Does anyone know when the 2006's are going to be showing up on lots? I was at the Mazda website yesterday and its still got the 2005 information up. I'm thinking that a 2006 Mazda3 will be in the cards as the A3 doesn't appear to be pricing its way to my demographic.

Sounds like they are already there in North Carolina. You may want to call up a few dealers or do as Mystery Meade did and do some investigative work behind your local dealerships. Up here in Canada, it's most likely at the end of September or October.

call a dealer and they said some 06 M3 coming in 2 weeks, im considering getting 06 for the minor upgrade,ie. 5speed auto, pollen filter.. and it is 2006 !
Then the question is, how should i bargain a first month new car? for a 2005 i think i can get the m3 hatch with abs/sac option down to 18K or less, how about 06? the msrp price of 06 hatch S Touring is about 19100 and invoice(according to edmund )is 18000. Should I pay the msrp? what will be a OK price with a new car like this? will $500 over invoice be ok? Thanks

That's a tricky question...dealers may try to mark up the 2006 cars when they're still hard to get. Even so, my advice would be not to pay MSRP.

I bought a new 2006 Mazda5 two months ago when it was REALLY hard to find, so I expected to pay MSRP. But I actually paid $600 under MSRP, without any haggling with the dealer. So, on the 2006 Mazda3, you should be able to get at least a few hundred under MSRP. Of course, this depends on which dealer that you go to...some are more willing to come down in price than others.

I'd offer a dealer $18,000 for a 2006 Mazda3 (invoice on the car you described), and be willing to go up to about $18,600 through negotiation. That's a little more than the 2005 model, but you'll save some of that extra money in gas (better gas mileage) and in depreciation (the newer car will be worth more at trade-in time...this becomes less important the longer you keep the car).

Good luck!

r2k,

After you signed up with Gerber's website, how did you request that they mail you the ad insert? I didn't see any mention on their website for a Mazda coupon or promotion. And I couldn't find anywhere to request that they mail an ad insert.

Could you help?

Thanks, I'm planning to by an '06 Mazda3 S GT and every little bit helps.

jonatj:

You have to sign up and become a "member" of the Gerber web site. Go to

www.gerber.com

and click on the pale purple "Join Now" icon in the upper middle area of the main page.

That will take you to a questionnaire asking you all about your new baby (!!!), so have some creative answers ready (I am an "other family member").

After they acknowledge your new membership, you can contact them and request the Mazda ad insert. I said I was planning on purchasing a new Mazda soon and would like a copy of the ad insert. Hopefully they still have some available and you can get one.

It took about 10 days to get the ad insert in the mail.

Then you can go to the previously mentioned Mazda web page and fill out that form so you can get the Mazda certificate number to go with the ad insert.

Others have reported on this and other forums that they were able to get the $500 off without the actual Gerber ad insert, but that depended on the dealership.

Hope this helps, and good luck...I am still waiting for a combination of model, color and options I like to get a Mazda 5.

2005 3s, 5speed hatchback w/ABS and rear step plates for invoice +$35 (they did the dumb "doc fee" thing at the last minute, but I didn't complain - seemed trivial compared to some of the huge "miscellaneous charges" dealers often try to sneak in) in Seattle, WA

Well, I wouldn't know about North Carolina, but here in Virginia, they're here!

There's a $500 rebate coupon being given to everyone who attends a "Zoom Zoom Live" event (www.zoomzoomlive.com). This can't be used in combination with the Gerber rebate, but can be used instead of it. The Zoom Zoom Live rebate might be an easier (and more fun!) way for some people to get their $500 rebate.
