Im shopping in NYC dealer for mazda 3 hatchback, new and used. a dealer quote a new 3 hatchback with leather seat+ abs 18K. and another dealer quote about 18500 for base + ABS package. , nd said he may able to lower to 18K if i really want to buy it. In both cases, i didnt negoatia much because i havent get my finance done yet. On the other hand, I also checking few used 2004 3 hatchback, a dealer quote 15350 just base(with spolier) but no abs or moonroof. milage is ok around 16K. I think i able to get it to15K but i havent really bargain with the dealer. The car is in good condition, only 1 very littele scratch and the interior is like brand new. I dont have much experience in buying car, how is these pricing? also, the new car is 3K different from the used, is the used better value? Thanks

I deal with all of the dealers in the metro ny area on a regular basis....My personal choice would be Wantagh Mazda in Wantagh.

Replying to: voidvoice (Aug 21, 2005 2:01 pm) Is this AT or MT? I was shopping around for a Mazda3 hatchback, base+AT+ABS package, and got internet quotes around $18,400. So, your price sounds pretty good. I ended up buying a Mazda5 (for the same price!), but the Mazda3 hatch was a close second choice for me. The used car you're talking about doesn't have the ABS package (an $800 option). So, maybe it's priced ~$2,000 less than a comparable new Mazda3. There was no redesign between the 2004 and 2005 model years, so there's no significant difference between the cars. Your choice really depends on how much the $2000 means to you, how important the ABS package is to you (my wife wouldn't let me buy a car without it), how important the excitement of getting a brand new car is to you, and whether or not it's important to you that in the future you'll probably need to replace the used one sooner than the new one. If it was me, I'd go for the new one. But if money's really tight for you, the used one's not such a bad deal. Good luck! |
