They have both been on round trips from MN. to las vegas and the highlander is fantastic on road trips-very smooth. The rav 4 is no fun on A long trip. Replying to: unknown (Nov 19, 2006 2:28 pm) I want a slightly larger (6 inches) 8 passenger (like the Pilot) Hybrid that gives EPA mpg >= 40/33 and does 0-60 under 10 seconds.   This is a family hauler and not a racing car. Slightly car like design like the CX-7/CX-9 is OK but I donot want a minivan or station wagon.   Plug-in option and flex fuel would be great but I donot expect it. Premium over similarly equipped non-hybrid should be less than $4000.   Technology goodies as mentioned before will add to the appeal.

Replying to: jbroady (Nov 19, 2006 11:11 am) Maybe they'll enhance the HP/torque of the I4 by moving up to the Miller Cycle engine instead of the simpler Atkinson Cycle engine used currently. Having 270 volts at hand would allow them to have a variable speed SC driven by a variable frequency AC inverter like the ones already driving MG1, MG2, and w/AWD MG3.   Virtually no energy wasted on driving the SC in normal cruise. Until/unless you put your foot into it and even then NEVER reach overboost and thereby waste SC energy.
