If you checked 20 dealerships, how close was this dealership to where you lived? I think the dual interior color (rather than the exterior) is what made negotiating a little more difficult. The silverstone color was the car's trademark color since it's birth in 1999 so it's relatively common. The white version came with a new tan leather (instead of red) so that might be a little more difficult to negotiate as well since it's new.

I have an '04 formula red. The only option I added was tinted side windows (which Ziebart did for the dealership). Though the speakers aren't bad, I've thought about purchasing the headrest speakers. You got a great deal. Aren't you glad you went with the Honda?!

By the way, did you finance or lease? I'm curious about the interest rate you got if you financed.

Remember, you can out accelerate a Porsche Boxster S now!

I bought the car at a dealership nearly 2 hours away. For me is was worth it since my job often takes me through this area. I simply bummed a ride that day and drove the S home. You are right about the Silverstone being a common color but it was the daul red/black interior that every dealership said they would hardly budge on. So in the end, I feel like the deal was a rock solid one. I decided not to finance or lease. I bought the car with the intention of keeping her for a long time, so I wrote the check, breathed deep and smiled the whole way home.

As for the Boxster S...I long for the day I meet one to find out many answers to the mindless debates I have with myself. The Honda is a marvelous car. Perfect IMO.

Noticed in a number of reviews that owners find the Honda audio system sucking a bit, and not too well, at that.

We have our car systems on constantly, enjoy an excellent high-end home system and decided within two weeks of buying our S2K to replace everything.

Kenwood X679 AM/FM/CD/MP3/XR satellite head unit, Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 speaker system w/external crossovers, Alpine MRP-T220 amp, Monster Cable wiring. Performance is awesome--ohms and watts above what was in it--for $800+ installed.

Try it. You'll love it!

BTW, if someone tries to sell you on speakers in back of the seats at floor level, tell 'em to take a hike. Not worth it.

FYI: A dealership outside Cleveland has often advertised new 2004 S2000's for $30,495. I mentioned this to another dealer here in Ohio and it seemed to be helpful (from my point of view!) in discussing pricing of the car.

Sorry, since we exist to provide a consumer information outlet rather than an e-mail exchange clearinghouse, offering to provide dealership information via e-mail doesn't work for us. That goes against our purpose for existing!

Also, posting your e-mail address on a public message board is unwise - spammers mine such boards to add addresses to their databases.

New 2004 red S2000 at Jack Matia Honda in Elyria, Ohio is priced at $29,997. Retail is $33,290. I want it but can't buy it!

I've been shopping for an '05 for over a month going through the internet managers all in the Houston, TX area. It finally came down to a best price from one of the closer dealers. I was looking for Silverstone, but closest dealer ($700+ out of running) got one in Rio Yellow. Was not a fan of Spa but when I saw Rio thought this is the one.

I was going to get the best price dealer to do a dealer swap for me. But I kept working on my closest dealer to match the competition. They did and I added the hard top.

Is this a good deal or what:

Price: $30322.67 ($167.67 over invoice)
HardTop: $2995.00 (installed for parts cost)
TT&L: $2337.63
=================
OTD: $35655.30 !!!!!

I got it last Staurday an just love the car. I had driven '02 and '03 and think this is better for ride, everday around town low speed driveability, and headlight setup. Rio is just awesome color in bright sunlight!

As long as you don't need a lot of room.....BUY IT. Ask them if they honored the break in period. Check tire wear in the back. Have him take it to a Honda dealer and have them give it a quick check. You can call them and see how it went, or get the paperwork. Otherwise, you should be fine.
