| New Sable looks better on photo than new Taurus. Now Taurus/Sable compete more with Avalon and 300 than with Camry. But take into account that Camry was not a competition to original Taurus - Taurus was competing with Accord. Camry was non-descript compact car. Then it became larger car in 1992 and after that competition started and finally it unseated Taurus as a best-selling car in USA. | |

Not true with 500/Montego. Since Ford cannot revise those two cars as fast as the market demands, at least more folks will be exposed to what decent rides they are as they stand. It is a brilliant move in a rough time, and the cheapest thing they could do to increase sales. The dumbest thing they did was to change the names in the first place. |

You can see it at Mercury's website http://www.mercuryvehicles.com/sable08/?intcmp=B_08SableInts_MVHomepage_08SableI- nterstitial_20070207# To say truth I like Montego name better. Sable does not sound right for the car even though I own one and does not have the same equity as Taurus. But whatever - new Sable looks less massive than Montego. But certainly it is move upward for Sable. |

New topic for anyone interested. What Are Your Thoughts on the Return of the Taurus/Sable? |
|
OK, this month you can get about $6000 off MSRP with the combo of incentives on the 500/Montego. Or you can wait til summer and pay approx. sticker for a 2008. What am i losing out on by buying now? I know about the engine but what about the tranny and the AWD. Is giving up the CVT and the Haldex AWD for the new unproven 3.5 a good tradeoff?

Drove both an Edge and the Lincoln version MKX Sunday with the new 3.5 and tranny. I cannot "feel" any noticeable difference from my 3.0 500 unless I really press the pedal to the floor and want to get no more than 250 miles to the tankful. No discernible difference in any respect to what there already is! So you want to pay $3000 for a home stereo with .001 total harmonic distortion instead of $300 for the one with .01 THD because the sine-wave can tell when your ears can't? And if you don't have 20/20 vision, why waste money on HDTV??? Why wait and waste for a 3.5/6f when you can save thousands by getting the Porsche designed Duratec 3.0 4V V-6 with Toyota 6 speed transmission on a Volvo platform and Pirelli Tires??? Uhh huhhh! Thank you very much.
