Mercedes-Benz CL-Class, Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG

If I could buy a car close to 150k+ I would buy the Bentley Continental GT. The mighty great Benz has a few more horses but the Bentley is JUST MORE than the Benz could ever be.
#10 of 14 Because it is there...

I have purchased four AMG vehicles this past year including the SL55 and E55. It is true that these cars have more power than anyone could ever need. I usually have to drive them in the comfort mode which locks out first gear, otherwise the traction control is always at war with the engine. When I turn off the traction control, even starting out in second gear, a full throttle launch creates massive wheelspin. OK, I agree it is all pointless.
And I love it! The E55 is the most satisfying ownership experience I have ever had.
The CL65 does sound a bit ridiculous, maybe if they could just shave a few pounds, they wouldn't have to come up with these huge engines. But don't talk to me about the Bentley- come on- you are buying a Volkswagen with a tarted up interior with less power and more weight than the CL65.
Also, I use to worship at the BMW altar until Chris Bangle arrived.
#11 of 14 Continental GT vs CL65

What is up with the lack of torque in the Bentley. Same size engine, same # of cylinders, same # of turbos yet the CL puts out 738 lbs-ft and the Bentley, less than 500. Maybe it's a transmission limitation. I heard the CL65 really makes 884 lbs-ft (1200 Nm) but had to be limited because of the tranny.

I remain impressed with everything about the Continental GT, except it's styling. It looks like a shoe. I'm afraid of what the sedan version will look like.

Are you impressed with the weight to torque ratio? I'm not. Give me a CL55, 600, or 65 any day.

Nope I'm not! I agree, I'll take a CL55 or CL65 any day too. But it's really the styling of the Bentley that I find insipid. I'll take a Ferrari 612 Scagletti over the Bentley too, or an Aston-Martin DB9.
