It might be a better investment to invest in an aftermarket transmission cooler. Or you can just carry a 5 gal bucket of fluid.

Three friends and I have the 6-liter diesel. Three out of four have had the turbo hoses blow off. It happens when turbo boost is high. If you are towing a heavy trailer uphill and the hose blows, the engine can't produce enough power to get off the road. This is a huge safety concern and I just filed a complaint with the federal Dept. of Transportation to try and force a recall from Ford. If enough of us file this complaint, maybe Ford will have to come up with a good fix. My friends have had this happen more than once. Do a Google search for vehicle recalls and you can find the DOT form.

Have 86,000 miles on this truck and it's starting to miss. What is the procedure for taking off the coils to check the plugs?

06 F-250 SD Transmission by losborne

I have just gotten off a trip from Houston, Tx to Branson, MO and while going up a hill pulling a 30 fifth wheel trailer I noticed that my transmission or turbo was making
a swizzing sound. The rpm did not go up, so I down shifted
to 3 and in a few seconds it stopped. But all during the
trip while I was in the mountains, I had this problem. Also
I stopped using the tow/haul switch. On flat highway I did
not have any problems.
Someone told me that the hoses to the transmissions was the
problem. I think I have a turbo problem

Any suggestions.

ABS light F250 super duty / speedometer not working by sitiakab

Here is an easy fix if your ABS dash light comes on with a Ford Super Duty F-250 F-350. Most of the time the problem is the speed sensor unit that is mounted into the top of the rear differential on the rear axle. When this unit goes bad, in addition to the ABS light coming on, the speedometer will not work at low speeds, the speedometer works erratically at higher speeds, an auto transmission will not shift correctly, and the check engine light "service engine soon" comes on. The sensor is easy to replace and costs $25 at the Ford dealer, or about $17 at local auto parts. It's very visible and easy to get to - just disconnect the wiring harness, unbolt one 10mm bolt, pull the old one out, put the new one in, and install the bolt. I purchased the cheaper unit from O-Reilly's, and because the mounting bracket was a thin metal vs. a Ford thick plastic, I used a couple of washers to insure the mounting bolt did not go too far down into the differential unit. Takes just a couple of minutes, and cures all of the problems. I did have to disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset the service engine soon light.

I have a 99 F250 SD with 60,000 miles on it and experienced this (the "death wobble" shimmy over rough pavement, especially on the highway) numerous times. It's very scary and I haven't heard of a solution yet. Anything new? I finally have my gooseneck horse trailer and would like to take some long trips, but am nervous about my and my horse's safety. It has happened both with and without the trailer hooked up. Why isn't Ford addressing this???! Anything ??? *crickets*

Death Wobble on Dodge Rams is usually a result of worn ball joints, once alignment and unbalanced tires/wheels are ruled out. I'd give your F250 a look there, and go to a pro suspension/alignment shop that won't just put the same original parts in there. Ram owners have found Moog suspension parts cure DW.

2003 F250 WINDOWS AND STEREO DO NOT WORK AFTER STARTING UP, RIGHT AWAY. by jhauschild

After I start my truck, the windows and the stereo do not work right away. Some times for a few minutes. Some times I don't have problems at all. The stereo doesn't even light up. I have tried to turn the truck on and off a few times even, to try to see if it helps. I have also noticed that from time to time the door ajar light and the interior lights stay on for a bit, even if the doors aren't open. Has anyone bumped into this problem and if so what needs to be done.? I just hope I don't get stuck in the rain with the windows down. Thank you.

it's true if your truck has around a 100,000 miles on it the ball joints would be a good place to start is the truck a 4x4 or not as this increases the number of components in the rotating assembly also this sometimes is a caster issue related to normal wear of suspension parts probably a mechanical issue check shocks for leakage also steering damper
