| Have 86,000 miles on this truck and it's starting to miss. What is the procedure for taking off the coils to check the plugs? | |
|
I have just gotten off a trip from Houston, Tx to Branson, MO and while going up a hill pulling a 30 fifth wheel trailer I noticed that my transmission or turbo was making a swizzing sound. The rpm did not go up, so I down shifted to 3 and in a few seconds it stopped. But all during the trip while I was in the mountains, I had this problem. Also I stopped using the tow/haul switch. On flat highway I did not have any problems. Someone told me that the hoses to the transmissions was the problem. I think I have a turbo problem Any suggestions. |

| Here is an easy fix if your ABS dash light comes on with a Ford Super Duty F-250 F-350. Most of the time the problem is the speed sensor unit that is mounted into the top of the rear differential on the rear axle. When this unit goes bad, in addition to the ABS light coming on, the speedometer will not work at low speeds, the speedometer works erratically at higher speeds, an auto transmission will not shift correctly, and the check engine light "service engine soon" comes on. The sensor is easy to replace and costs $25 at the Ford dealer, or about $17 at local auto parts. It's very visible and easy to get to - just disconnect the wiring harness, unbolt one 10mm bolt, pull the old one out, put the new one in, and install the bolt. I purchased the cheaper unit from O-Reilly's, and because the mounting bracket was a thin metal vs. a Ford thick plastic, I used a couple of washers to insure the mounting bolt did not go too far down into the differential unit. Takes just a couple of minutes, and cures all of the problems. I did have to disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset the service engine soon light. | |

After I start my truck, the windows and the stereo do not work right away. Some times for a few minutes. Some times I don't have problems at all. The stereo doesn't even light up. I have tried to turn the truck on and off a few times even, to try to see if it helps. I have also noticed that from time to time the door ajar light and the interior lights stay on for a bit, even if the doors aren't open. Has anyone bumped into this problem and if so what needs to be done.? I just hope I don't get stuck in the rain with the windows down. Thank you. |
