The other night, I was digging through my toolbox and I discovered some worthless stuff. I found two oil spouts. Remember those? A Fox Valley Dwell Tach and Timing Light A flex tool with allen wrench for adjusting the points on a GM car. A 36MM socket for old VW axle nuts. lots of feeler gusges for distributor points. Two distributor wrenches. A Craftsman "Starter and Manifold wrench" So many oddball size sockets I've had since high school and probably never used including a 29/32nds 1/2 inch drive socket. What would THAT fit? Oh, there was more stuff too...a Motor's Repair Manual that covered 1954-1961. Still, I couldn't bring myself to toss this junk! |

the oil spouts, well, I'll pass on them. that 36mm socket might fit a crank balancer nut on a chevette. you can use the timing light clipped around #1 wire to see if there are bounces from a bad crank position sensor. somebody will bid for that motor manual on eBay. you just don't have anything right now to use it on is the only problem. geez, box it up and send it to me |

I really do know how to spell obsolete. I even found a 17 mm allen wrench for checking the trans fluid on an old VW! Maybe I should just buy a couple of old cars? |

I'll fix the spellling for you. I'd hold on to those tools. Find some kid who bought himself a 60s GM car and give them to him. |

That socket fits the spindle nut on a lot of newer front drive axels. Harry |

Maybe I'll use one of those oil tappers as a gag gift or something. Or we could bury it in a time capsule! Years ago, a guy I know was going to throw away a tool used for compressing the valve springs on a flathead Ford V-8. I talked him into saving it "just in case" he ran into someonw with a need. After 20 years, I'll bet he's still got it! |
