WOW! I would definately check around. $2800 to repair a catalytic converter seems outrageous. Where did you take it to get the estimate; The Dealership? I also have an 04 XLS AWD with 56,000 miles and have only had it for about 3 months. I bought the car because all the reviews on it seemed good. Every website I went to had it rated about 4.5 out of 5 stars, but after coming to this site, I am a little concerned.

Definately keep us posted. I am very curious as to the cost to repair that.

Replacing the timing belt by josh99216

I bought my used 04 Mitsubishi Endeavor XLS about 5 months ago with 54K miles on it. It now has 57K miles on it and though I know its a bit early to worry about but I was wondering if someone could tell me when the timing belt should be replaced. I am also curious as to if the timing belt were to break while driving, does this blow the engine? I know some cars timing belts break and it doesnt hurt the engine, how about the 04 Endeavor? Also any other maintenance advice would be greatly appreciated.

Endeavor timing belt and other issues by brenda18

I was told this morning by a service writer that replacing the timing belt on my 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor was very important as it would cause engine failure.

Also, the engine needs to be taken apart to replace the platinum-tipped spark plugs!

Anyone have any idea how carbon gets into solenoid vents in the ignition system?

Transfer oil and rear axle oil price by brenda18

Be careful when you this serviced, as it takes special oil which only the dealers have. If an outside mechanic buys it, they have to buy the whole container and only use about 1/4 of the container.

Hey guys,

I have a 2005 Endeavor and when i turn it on lately i experience a loss of power while getting out of the parking and when i have to stop at stop signs when the car has just been turned on. Once i rev the engine and drive it for sometime its fine. But the other day i was leaving a park and had to stop at a stop sign before leaving and the car started losing power and eventually turned off. It would not start for like an hour!!! I took it to PepBoys and they said the battery and alternator were working fine...! Help!! Thanks!

HELP! Please tell me you were able to find a solution. This just happened to my car today. I started it and Communication Error showed up on my screen. My automatic key won't work, nor will the radio/cd player. I'm dreading the answer I might get from the dealer

Have you checked your Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor? I had a problem similar to this on my old Nissan Pathfinder and that was what was causing my car to lose power, and in some cases, shut down entirely.

Hello has anyone figured out why and where the air conditioner is draining in the front driver side floorboards? where is the drain located, it is supposed to drain outside and under the car right?

Brenda
I have a 04 Endevor with 203,000 miles on it. It has been a great car. I did not replace the original timing belt until 175,000 miles. I only did it then because I thought I was pushing my luck by having that many miles on the original. It was a mistake in my case. That belt lasted about 1,000 miles, had to have the engine rebuilt. The next one lasted less than 30,000, got lucky was stopped when it broke and did not have to do anything to the engine. I got less than 1,000 miles on it and am going to have to have the engine rebuilt again. Not sure what the problem is with replacing the belt but there must be a problem of some kind. So be careful. I had it done the first time at a local repair shop and this time had it done at dealer. Didn't seem to make a difference
