IIRC the Allroad predates the Volvo XC, in any case I like them as I do most Audi wagons.

Just purchesed my A3 and its dead. by astubbs

Just purchased a Certified Preowned Audi A3, 2006 2.0T with 37K on the odometer, and it died in Manhattan...in the rain. I just picked the car up on Friday from Biener Audi in Great Neck NY. Was absolutely loving it, and then it went kaput on me. The engine light came on, and there were a couple chugs from the engine, and it completely stopped, and wouldn't start up again. There had been no warning lights, no change in power or the engine, it just absolutely stopped and wouldnt go any further.

Roadside assistance was very helpful, and the towtruck came within the hour. i'm just nervous now that this is the beginning of a long and painful road of issues. Any thoughts?

thanks.

Yikes. Sorry to hear that. No suggestions for you about the cause, just encouragement. I also have a 2006 A3 2.0T and also 37,000 miles and have had a great experience with reliability. One sensor malfunction but that was it. Good luck. Keep us posted on the cause.

Thanks for the reply. Just got off the phone with the dealer, they've replaced the Ignition Coils and they said there was a bad starter cable, all this was covered under the warranty. fingers crossed nothing else goes wrong, glad to hear yours is going strong and has been a very reliable auto.

Oh yeah there were a lot of bad coils in the early A3s and other 2.0T cars. Forgot about those, your car should be fine now. Way back in 1964 my folks bought a Catalina Hardtop at Biener (then Biener Pontiac). .

Audi needs to BRING a 4-Door S3 to America by andres3

Audi must bring the 4-door S3 to the USA. Audi NEEDS TO sell the 4-door S3 in America.

I recommend they bring in their lowest priced S model ever, a new S3, with the TTS' powertrain (except use S4's 7-speed DSG, magnetically adjustable suspension, adaptable xenon headlights, Premium Nappa Leather) and do it all for $40,000 MSRP. They could do it.... they don't need to throw in a lot of bells and whistles with this car, and theyd' certainly have a customer with me.

P.S. They should have light weight components to reduce wieght via the use of aluminum such as with the hood, suspension components, and forged 18" wheels standard with 245/40/R18 summer rubber.

Bring it to North America, and they will come.

Audi A3 - Typical Repair Costs in $1,000s per ConsumerGuideAuto? by horch73

Considering a used 2007 A3 2.0T, and I noticed this list of repair costs (See below or the link). I believe them all, except, does it really cost this much for: Shocks and/or Struts ($4,600), Constant Velocity Joints ($4,325), and Automatic Transmission ($6,195)?

Further, what are the odds of these things breaking in 100,000 miles, 150,000 miles?

Thanks!

Consumer Guide Estimated Repair Costs
This table lists costs of likely repairs for comparison with other vehicles. The dollar amount includes the cost of the part(s) and labor (based on $50 per hour) for the typical repair without extras or add-ons. Like the pricing information, replacement costs can vary widely depending on region. Expect charges at a new-car dealership to be slightly higher.

Item Name Repair Cost
A/C Compressor $1,190
Alternator $675
Automatic Transmission or Transaxle $6,195
Brakes $945
Clutch, Pressure Plate, Bearing $1,160
Constant Velocity Joints $4,325
Exhaust System $975
Radiator $1,265
Shocks and/or Struts $4,600
Timing Chain or Belt $675
