The base stereo is NOT very good but some have reported it improves with some usage. Whether this is one's ears adjusting or the speakers etc breaking in is not clear. Not sure who makes it. There are 4 mid-range drivers, one in each door. They do NOT have tweeters! (I *think* there is a single woofer somewhere too. (Don't call it a subwoofer, that is a different animal))..

Not familiar with the upgrade stereo. If this were important to me I'd talk to some good aftermarket installers first, then probably buy the base stereo and get it upgraded. You need to figure out your costs though. I may be doing my own (speakers-only) upgrades in the summer but haven't figured it all out yet.

Are you able to listen to each of these at your dealership?

#1850 of 2444 My order (2011 x35d) by ycgmae

I have frequently visited this board since last Fall and what I have learned here was a great help with my purchasing process. I went ahead with an order of a 2011 35d on Jan 3, the last day of BMW's holiday sales event. In the spirit of sharing with other prospective buyers, here are the details of the deal:

2011 35d with following packages/options:
ZCW ZPP ZPS ZRC ZTP
running boards
roof rails
heated rear seats
smartphone integration

MSRP (including $875 destination charge): $63375

Final price: $54000 (after $3500 eco credit + $2500 holiday credit, plus 0.9% finance for 3 years)

This was a simple purchase, no trade-in involved. Negotiation was quite short. I basically went to the dealership two hours before it closed, and only a few people were there (It was a Monday just after the very busy holidays). Based on what I have read here, it was probably not a great deal with perhaps the room for negotiating down 1-1.5k more. However, with the holiday credit scheduled to expire the next day, I took the deal any way.

The car is scheduled to be delivered at the end of this month.

Mine has Navigation, rear view camera and I bought it in Sept of last year. My dealer quoted $50K and came down to $46K. You can easily bargain for $3-4K.
Also, if u r looking for financing, Penfed has great rates on new/used autos.

#1857 of 2444 2011 X5 D or Wait for 2012 X5 D ... Help! by ttopper1

Feb 19, 2011 (5:11 pm)

I am about to take delivery on an 2011 X5 D that I have the $2500 BMW finance bonus cash, the ecco credit of $3500, and a purchase price of $1000 over invoice. Seems like a good deal I can't get on a 2012??

I hear the 2012 however from sources is to start production in April and the upgrades to the wheels, electronics, etc on the vehicle etc are worth the wait...thoughts????

Where did you find a dealer who would do $1000 over invoice?
