I ran my battery down in my tundra and had to jump it off. My friend accidentally had the cables backwards. After we changed them, the truck started fine. Everything works as normal but the engine will not accelerate over 1400 RPMs. What could have happened? A fuse maybe? I have no idea about these new model vehicles. HELP!! |

| My 03 Tundra v6 has a slow coolant leak from the water pump. A few ounces of coolant will leak out and collect on the bottom of the engine and the wiring loom. The bottle is marked and shows a slow loss. The truck has 24000 miles on it. The dealer says its not leaking, or at least not bad enough for them to replace the waterpump under warranty. They wiped the fluid off, ran the truck and didnt see a leak. Until the waterpump blows completely, they wont fix it for fear that Toyota wont repay them. I am supposed to wait until I am in the middle of nowhere and let this happen? I suppose if I have a bad piston they'll tell me to wait till they all go bad. I referred this to the BBB who has started a letter writing campagin back and forth. Is someone playing a game with me? | |

The other day my friend and I were going campimng. We took his 2005 Tundra access cab. Now we were only towing a 5000 pound Trailer and the truck just stops. I don't get it is a new truck why did it stall? All I heard was a BANG! Well the tow truck came and took the truck away. The guy in the tow truck said that there may be a defect in the tow package or something. The bed looked as if someone had run there car into it. I for one said that we might have hooked the trailer up wrong so when it stalled it was hit.The truck right now is in the body shop getting the bed repaired. I use to have a Tundra and it never had this problem. What has happened? |

Replying to: brokentundra (Nov 25, 2005 6:57 pm) how was this ever resolved. i just had this exact thing happen this past week with my 2001 tundra. dealer said it was torgue convertor and that they would also have to replace transmission. the truck ran great until this past week and had no problem after i finally got it started. dealer said it would cost about $2,900 to fix. i just don't trust them.... |

problems in my 05 access cab sr5. i have notice that after coming to a stop at a red light there is sometimes a clunk and the truck surges forward just a little. Also, i noticed that while accelerating downhill(and only downhill)from 3rd to 4th gear, instead of shifting around 2200 rpm as usual, it will rev up to about 3200 rpm and hang there for a few seconds and then shift and then shift again to catch up. i have seen about half a dozen posts dating back to 2002 from people who have had the clunking at a red light. if you come across any more info on this please let me know, i'm not real convinced that these are "normal" which is what my dealer's service tech said. it doesnt happen all the time, and when i took my mechanic for a ride it didn't happen. any info on this would be greatly appreciated, as i have 30,000 miles now and would like to figure out this problem before my warranty runs out.

1/ if you have a Reese hitch go get the cap and throw it as far away as you can. After 4 years of non use I went to use it and it had rusted so bad inside that the sleeve would not go in. Took me two days of solvents and beating to make it useable. Dealer response was "we see that all the time" duh, a heads up would have been appreciated. 2/ Do not let the dealer talk you into just replacing pads and turning rotors to solve the warping problem. Comes right back, Cha Ching!
