Side airbags are not standard on the 2004 or 2005 Prius. They were added on the higher priced packages.

Side airbags are included in packages 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6. (Package # 1 is the cheapest package, a $262 adder.)

Sorry, correction - the price for package #1 is $650.

Trying to figure out the audio options by felton1

Hey guys

The more I look at the Prius, the more convinced I am that it will be my next car. I have been studying the Toyota brochure and all on-line information and I am a bit confused by the stereo information. On many Toyota models, they describe the JBL stereo at XM satellite compatible. No such mention with the Prius. The phrase "FM diversity reception" is used in conjunction with the Prius. What the heck does that mean? One last question...does anyone have their Ipod "connected" to either of these stereos? Some stereos seem to accomodate Ipod connectivity and others don't work so well.

Just minor questions, but I get far better information here on-line than anywhere else:)

Thanks!

Please let me know what you paid total... out the door.. but tell me what your tax is in Ga.
I am still negotiating with a dealer in N.C. Sales tax is 3 % but without leather and a combo package that does not have the GSP or leather the price out the door it 24.778
Does this sound high to you ?

Audio Options & leather by gnrb

We were told that the Prius is not satellite compatible as far as sitting the receiver in, like the other models. You have to mount it.

Curious about this leather situation. Another dealer said they did leather as a add-on after purchase.

My Prius has auto-leveling headlights and I'm constantly getting flashed by oncoming traffic. Is there any way to adjust the auto-leveling to be a little lower?

If you can travel to VA, you will find discounts and lower "Documentation fees", also known as "ADP" (additional dealer profit.)

The SE Toyota master distributor is notorious for adding unwanted addons such as Toyoguard and other high markup accessories.

I've read elsewhere that someone purchased a Prius in VA for $1,800 off MSRP. From my own experience, I purchased an '05 3 weeks ago in VA with immediate delivery and $700 off MSRP.

Consumer Reports has an interesting article on HID headlights. There does appear to be more of a concern with glare, which apparently is more noticeable to older eyes (over 50). Check it out:

I hate those lights. The sooner they are outlawed the better off we will be. What happened to regulations. I see some very unsafe cars with lots of added equipment. I guess cops are too lazy to ticket them.

Figuring out the Nav System by billiec

We THINK we are decently intelligent people, but can't seem to figure out the Nav system operation. We can get it to do some basic mapping, but when we go to register "home" or some other function, all we get on the menu is the Emergency switch. Everything else is greyed out. Many of the screens are greyed out and we can't find out how to make them accessible. Anyone else having this problem? Called the dealer. He's going to give me a tutorial this afternoon. Seems like they'd have some clearer instructions in the manual!
