We put in our $500 deposit for a Prius; the irony is that we walked in expecting to buy a Camry but fell in love with the Prius after test driving it. However, the dealer (C.T. in San Jose) indicated that we have an option of choosing option packages 1 (code RW), 6 (code BI) or 9 (code BC). I am curious to find out if this is true. The dealer claims that this is from Toyota and not a dealership strategy. |

Is it true that there is a no-haggle pricing scheme on the Prius (similar to Saturn and Scion)? Our dealer in SJ won't offer anything at all, not even a AAA or Costco membership discount. Any manufacturer to dealer deals that anyone is aware of?

Am interested in purchasing a 2004 Prius (black/gray or silver/gray) with one of these packages but am being told must wait till July in the DC/Baltimore area. Any suggestions as to how I might obtain either of these packages?

I have package number 7 from a California dealer. All prices are firm for the time being and will soften later when supply finally catches up with demand. To save money on purchase, wait. To save money on gas, buy now. Amount saved by waiting should be around $800-$1,000. All car deposits should be refundable. Non-refund in most states should land dealer in jail.

Can you tell from the VIN # which package the Prius comes with.

| The dealer told me that leather could be installed for $1695. Has anyone had this done? What did you pay? | |
| Hi everyone. Greetings from the Arizona desert! This is the first Town Hall I've ever joined and I've been enjoying the postings here alot. Here's my story: I ordered a Blue '04 with no options in October and this past Friday settled on a Silver one instead. (After reading your boards I realized I would not get the blue one anytime soon, if at all, considering that Toyota doesn't build stripped cars.) The silver car was a cancellation and the dealer was considerate enough to let me have the first shot at it. It'll be here the last week of February. Does the retractable cargo cover come with the car or is it an optional accessory? If it is, what is the price? Thanks. | |

The cargo area cover comes with the car. It slips into a slot on either side of the "trunk" and pulls forward (actually back toward the hatch) like a horizontal window shade and then fits into two slots on either side of the other end of the "trunk"...the end toward the hatch. I live in the Arizona desert too...Green Valley. Have had my Prius since last November. Blue, but am sure it was not your car. Stan |
