I don't think that's true at all. When a dealer gets a car from another dealer they usually just swap vehicles. I need this mustang - I can give you a F250 or an Edge, etc. It's not like the dealer has to buy it from the other dealer with added profit.
 
You can look it up dealer by dealer on the FordDirect.com website (which it sounds like you already did) but that's a pain. You could use the other link on the website that tells Ford what you want and they'll do a dealer search for you. Otherwise only another dealer can get that information.

Use the Ford website and just plug in various zip code to search inventory. It is a pain but you get to see precisely how each one is equipped.
 
Stick 'verts are relatively rare so be prepared to have some flexibility on color and/or options.
 
If you go used, just try to buy from someone like yourself. Many of these have been beat or modded by kids.

You know already it's an 07/GT/ vert/stick. Redfire with black and parchment leather, parchment top. Sticker was $34380, I offered and got $28k.

Now that I committed to buying, I'm reading some stuff about cloth tops being so much better. Of course mine has a vinyl (parchment) top. Anything to worry about or am I overreacting (again!)?

No point in worrying about it since Parchment is not available in cloth!
 
Awesome colors - first tried (and failed) to buy an '06 in that combination and ended up with Torch Red and double Parchment.

thanks. good to hear - we wouldn't have went black to get cloth anyway.
 
the interior is the "black w/parchment accent". didn't see it in person but the pics looked great so we looked for one with that.
