next generation s2000 in 2008? by craterus

I have heard that honda will be coming out with the next generation of s2000's in 2008. I'm not sure how valid this rumor is. Anyone know anything about it? I was planning to lease a brand new 2007 s2000 by the end of this year, but would consider waiting a year if honda was indeed giving a major overhaul next year. Any comments/suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I saw a rendering of the supposed new S2000 in one of the auto magazines. It looked and sounded more speculative than official. But if the rendering was remotely accurate, but the current model. It was hideous, IMO. Looked like the current S2000 was cross bred with a Pontiac Solstice.

Factory Seat cover Replacement by njexpress

Folks,
I snagged a new set of Factory Red leather seat covers for the S2k from ebay. Now the trick is to get it installed. Local upholstrers charge about $240 + tax on an average but I am looking to do this myself to save the cost. Anyone ever do this? Any input would be really helpful.
Cheers!!

I don't know how many people know this. I was talking to a Honda dealer today and this is the LAST year they will be made. I was wondering if anyone knows how long Honda will have parts available for the 2007?

That is a common dealer tactic that has been used for years to pressure potential buyers. I would go to a dealer that doesn't lie to customers. There has not yet been any announcement of the S2000 ending production.

S2000 Cosmetic Defect - Bumps on dashboard by mprasad

I will be taking delivery of a new 2006 and noticed that it had a large number of 'bumps' on the dash. Inspecting other S2000's on the lot showed that two of them had none and another had a couple.

I know of another person on this forum who had a similar issue and had to go through some pain to resolve it.

Wonder if this is a common problem and if this has eventually has gotten worse over time?

Regards
Mike

Insideline had an article a few days ago on the introduction of a "Club Racer" version in the NY auto show. I will post my findings a couple weeks from now, if I see one at the show.
Cheers!!

I went to trade in my 2006 S2000 for the 2007 model, they told me that 2006 was the last year for the S2000, I instead bought a 2007 Accord (which I am still kicking myself in the butt for). The next day I went online and saw the 2007 S2000.
I tried to undo my trade only one day later but the San Antonio Honda Dealorship wouldn't let me.

I wish you the best of luck in selling your S2000. However, just to let you down easy, you should be aware that one can buy a brand new one for around $30,000. As good as the resale on S2000's is, I would expect the best you could do for a 2 year old one with 24k miles is in the $22,500 range (trade in value is $20.5k +/-). And that assumes its in good to outstanding condition (meaning new tires in the last 2,000 miles). After all, you have used up 2/3 of the warranty and inhaled all that new car smell out of it.

But at least it still cost you a fraction of what a loaded Z4 or Boxster would have.

Good luck.
