Ditto on the soft rubber... Also, the camber on many sports cars is set up aggressively to help with turn-in response, etc... This causes the tires to wear a little unevenly, and even wear more while you are driving straight down the freeway..

It seems that maintenance costs are a significant factor for you... I think if the majority of your driving is going to be freeway commuting, and cost is a concern... then the S2000 is probably not the right car for you.. no matter how great it actually might be.

I can't honestly comment on the AC system because I chose the BMW over the S2000. However, you will probably notice the noise with the top up or down--it seemed thin to me when I test drove it. If you're really concerned about maintenance costs, why not consider a certified used Audi TT or BMW Z4? Both come with free maintenance and are fun cars.

Actually with VSA , 2006 and newer this is mno longer true.

Maintenance cost on the S2000 are very low except for tire replacement. And as mentioned ealrier from a saftey and handling factor, I would repalce tires with OEM or better not harder high mileage.

Larger engines are always welcome by anon954

Thinking in terms of what kind of engine honda would introduce to its leading sports car is questionable. Larger in what way, displacement or cylinders. All would agree a 2.4L 8-cylinder F-1 engine revving to 22rpm's would be sick in a honda. Although unrealistic, trickle down technology could introduce a "larger" engine without significant weight changes albeit massive power gains.

next generation s2000 in 2008? by craterus

I have heard that honda will be coming out with the next generation of s2000's in 2008. I'm not sure how valid this rumor is. Anyone know anything about it? I was planning to lease a brand new 2007 s2000 by the end of this year, but would consider waiting a year if honda was indeed giving a major overhaul next year. Any comments/suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I saw a rendering of the supposed new S2000 in one of the auto magazines. It looked and sounded more speculative than official. But if the rendering was remotely accurate, but the current model. It was hideous, IMO. Looked like the current S2000 was cross bred with a Pontiac Solstice.

Factory Seat cover Replacement by njexpress

Folks,
I snagged a new set of Factory Red leather seat covers for the S2k from ebay. Now the trick is to get it installed. Local upholstrers charge about $240 + tax on an average but I am looking to do this myself to save the cost. Anyone ever do this? Any input would be really helpful.
Cheers!!

I don't know how many people know this. I was talking to a Honda dealer today and this is the LAST year they will be made. I was wondering if anyone knows how long Honda will have parts available for the 2007?

That is a common dealer tactic that has been used for years to pressure potential buyers. I would go to a dealer that doesn't lie to customers. There has not yet been any announcement of the S2000 ending production.
