ToV has another '04 dyno plot up including back-to-back plots against a '00. They're clearly showing over 240hp to the wheel, suggesting something around 260-270hp at the crank. It's looking a little more like the '04 may be underrated and may well meet or beat the 120hp/L mark. Mine certainly feels quicker across the board, now that I'm a few thousand miles past break-in. Only real philosophical issue is with VTEC lasting for very little time between 6k and 8k on the tach. In first year you're there for about a second before shifting. |

| just picked up MY00 GPW S2k any suggestions for car cover? | |

Go for all four.. its not the winter driving you have to worry about, its the dry roads. How well your car sticks on curves is almost always dependent on how well your rear tires grip, relative to the front tires. Winter tires on just the rear is going to make the rear very loose compared to the summer tires on the front. I don't have an S2000, but I'm very familiar with driving dynamics on rear-wheel drive cars. It could even oversteer dangerously with winter tires just on the rear. regards, kyfdx |

Congrats! No idea on the car cover though. Question for ya'll - what are your real thoughts on maximum weight capacity? I have to make a trip this afternoon with a friend who is, well, rather large. (6'2" maybe 300lbs?) I don't know if he'll fit - we'll find out. I'm the same height, about 185-190, so we'd be exceeding the max cargo capacity by at least 100lbs. Actually, that doesn't count the 100lbs of sand & junk that I have stashed in the trunk. Hmm. |

may i suggest you put a little extra air in your tires... i'm about 190 and i took a test drive with a salesman that looked about 260, if that gives you some comfort...i could not find any numbers on the GVWR. Will definitely be cozy if you go with the top up. I think with the springs in this car it's probably capable of carrying quite a bit, but i would take it slow over bumps. your post brings up something that was unexpected in a car like this. I was surprised by the vast headroom in the S with the top up. |

I have a 2003 S2000 and when I shift from 2nd to 3rd the it catches a little bit just before it goes into gear. Anyone else having a gearbox problem?

| Sphinx.....just wondering if you ever bought winter tires for your S2000 and how they are working out? I'm considering purchasing an S2000 and would also like to use it as my daily driver. But living in WI, I'm a little worried about the snow. I'm definitely interested in your experience. Thanks. | |

You are all kidding yourselves - there is no doubt that the Honda S2000 is the best package available (note in Australia with current exchange rates the base model retails for $57,750 US - don't talk about the import duties?!?!)..... But wait, is it still the best package around, is it still true....? No longer - have a look at this! http://www.mcclatchie.com/reviews/S2000R.html This talks about the new S2000R - yes "R""! in Japan Honda (and others) release so called racing versions of their cars which are up-specified versions of their road goers (this one is over the 206Kw (277hp)self imposed power limit set by Japanese manufactures). A good example is the WRX STI - it is Subaru's version of their "R" (except it is 206 Kw (277 hp). The stock standard pre-04 machine produced 176Kw (237 Horse-ies). This new Honda "R" sucker comes in 420 Kilograms lighter (yes that’s 924 Pounds!) AND (and this is a BIG AND) it comes with a whopping 272KW (that’s 366 Horsepower you won't want to argue with). The result is a virtual super car for a bargain basement price. Add a couple of passive mods (like a unifilter) and you can pull out another 20KW (26 Horses) out of the terror. Read the web page, tell your Honda dealer to reach under the table, pull out the bottom drawer and give you the GOOD STUFF! Then maybe I can import one to my country at great expense after you use and abuse one for a couple of years (although I doubt any sane person could possibly ever give one up)… |

That's pretty widely accepted to be a fake review. It's the only "review" on that site |

Yeah, I mean, who the heck is McClatchie? Why would he be one of the only people in the world to drive this car? Click on the link provided to his mate and co-writer Jorge Luis Borges and you get a page, supposedly from the NY Times telling us he died in 1986. I mean has any auto maker ever reworked an existing model by adding a larger more powerful engine, yet dropping weight by 430 lbs?!?! Seems to me like you would have to engineer a whole new car if that was your goal. |
