I have a 1999 voyager and I am experiencing all the symptoms of a faulty clockspring. The problem is, my vin is not on the recall list, so Chrysler will not pay for it to be fixed !I think this is poor customer service - is there anything I can do?

I think before you go any further, you might have to at least get it checked out and see if your problem is indeed the clockspring, and if the problem is caused by faulty workmanship. It's only "poor customer service" if they fail to help you with the results of poor workmanship. Failing to cover any part malfunction on a vehicle that's out of factory warranty is standard procedure.#3 of 8 What is this mysterious "clockspring"..... by andys120

It is what they call the part. I assume it looks like an old windup clock spring. I believe it is in the steering column. I had it replaced recently on my 1996 Caravan under the recall they implemented.No, it hasn't been 60 years since mechanical clocks, probably more like 30-40. Old mechanical clocks never kept good time. Biggest wasted feature you could have had back then.

The clockspring is under the steering wheel. It ensures a positive connection between the steering column wiring harness and whatever controls are on the steering wheel, and especially the airbag igniter.#6 of 8 Thanks guys..... by andys120
