#1119 of 1426 Got mine for under invoice by deerblue

Oct 25, 2005 (2:24 pm)

Dealer-Keyes Lexus, So. Cal

Bought 2006 for $34,500.
The car is fully loaded, the MSRP sticker on the car was $39,694. Invoice is $34,684. It has the Navigation with Mark Levinson, AVS, VSC, HID, wood steering wheel, a bunch of mats and nets. In addition, the car had the dealer add-on of Sirius radio with 9 months free service. Got a quote from Longo for $34,500. Went to Keyes, my local Lexus dealer just to see if they could match it. They did.

I bought from Keyes because they treated me with respect. As a female latina, I know I a bit oversensitive but the guy at Longo kept asking me if I would prefer a less expensive configuration. Maybe he assumed I couldn't afford it. I didn't tell anyone that I make close to $144,000.

I wanted to buy a nice car for my 45th birthday. Test drove lots of entry luxury cars, like the BMW new 3 series, Infiniti G35 but decided on the ES 330. I hope I like it. These boards really helped me. Thanks.

bayviewe, Edmund's provides MSRP on several of their valuation sites. An example is the true market valuation (TMV),where TMV is provided as a percentage of MSRP.

MSRP does not vary for factory PACKAGES, regardless of the dealer from whom you purchase your car or region or whatever. Edmund's factory MSRP should be the same as a factory package MSRP shown on the sticker. Edmund's should not be showing a different MSRP than one that is shown on the sticker.

Where differences may come in is if you go to the Edmund's site and build a vehicle that is not a factory package. You could conceivably end up with higher MSRP than is on a package MSRP if you calculate the total MSRP by adding up all the component MSRPs.

In other words, when options come as part of a package, they are cheaper than if you add the options to a base vehicle one by one. You are likely to be able to rely on Edmund's MSRP, but I think the MSRP on the sticker is more accurate.

Boy, you folks have been getting some really good deals lately! It would be interesting to know what was causing this. Congrats to bayviewe, deerblue, and dshash for braving some negotiation and comparison shopping!

I like to think that quotes on this site have helped people walk into dealers with "attitude" that evokes confidence to negotiate. Of course these lower prices could be in anticipation of the new 2007 body style, but somehow I doubt it. The 2006 just came out, and in general folks aren't willing to wait when they need a new car!

Anyway, below are three of the most recent deals. Just compare them to the deals in posts 917 and 1056. These are by far the lowest prices I have seen yet.

deerblue's deal confirmed my suspicion that the 2006 could be had for similar price as some 2005s, although Edmund's TMV Values the 2006 much more espensively.
======================================
bayviewe, 2005 ES330, 1112, 10/24/05, Schaumburg ,Il (North Chicago area, Woodfield Lexus), $37909, $32,500, 85.7% MSRP.
deerblue, 2006 ES330, 1119, 10/24/95, So Cal (Keyes Lexus),$39,694, $34,500, 86.9% MSRP.
dshash, 2005 ES330, 1117, 10/25/2005, Massachusetts (Lexus of Watertown) $39913, 33,000, 83.9% MSRP

I understand the (TMV) and the MSRP but what I wanted to know was I thought that the 06 cars sticker price was almost a $500 increase over the 05's because of a price increase on the 06. I was just compairing # 1117 deal of a fully loaded 05 for $39,913. to the fully loaded 06 of #1119 for $39,694 if you calcuate the almost 500 differance of the increase in the 06 then it seems to be that the fully loaded 05 had a sticker price of somewhere around 700 more than the fully loaded 06 sticker and that was the part I didn t understand. why was the fully loaded 05 more than the fully loaded 06 if they both had the same equipment ( what part of this did I misunderstand)

Seabush.. How would you know what the factory to dealer incentive is or even the factory holdback ?

.I would think even 32999 is a good price comparatively because I was at a NJ dealership and he quoted me almost 34,xxx (can't recall the exact amt) saying he can atbest give me the invoice price for a 2005 when I walked in for a 2006. I wanted to go through the wholesale club car buying program which had a $500 over invoice price.

I was maintaining my offer around 86-87% of MSRP during the intial discussion and he was not willing to go below invoice. I did not go back to the dealer though he was later following up.

dshahs ...Even you got a good deal cos I was willing to offer arund 33500 for the fully loaded 05 model to the NJ dealer but did not go below invoice. which was close to 91% of MSRP.

I guess bayview has gi an awesome deal cs If I got that price I would pick up the car the same day.
