I bought my 05 ES 330 in Sept. After thinking over the deal, I think I have paid way too much for this vehicle. Here are the details:
MSRP: 37,900 (including navi., mark levinson, power pedals, chrome rims….everything)
Now, the sales person is willing to give only $500 off msrp. After a long fight, he is taking off $500 more. Total is 1000 off msrp.
Here is the summary: 37,900-1000+1700 chrome rims + plus tax….
What do you guys think? I think I have paid way too much? I could have saved this money to buy the new IS. What is the reasonable price, in your opion?

Wish you have asked the question before you bought the car. But I think you probably overpaid about $1000 . Also considering that yours is an 05 and not an 06 and you bought it in September when generally there is a end of MY sale you probably could have done better. But dont feel too bad; if you like the car overall then the price is worth it.

If my calculations are correct the dealer's cost on this vehicle was $32,054 (see breakdown).
Base - $28,528
Nav Package - 2,518
Chrome Wheels - $890
Brake Pedals - 112
Destination Charge - $650
Less 2% of Base (644)
MSRP (Holdback)
Actual Dealer's Cost = $32,054
Edmunds has a TMV price of $34,455

Hunter06 - glad you spoke to the dealership in NJ. What was the actual invoice price they quoted?

The NJ dealership I got my 2005 from was great! If you go to www.lexus.com, you can verify that the dealership is truly a Lexus dealership if it makes you feel more comfortable. There are several Lexus dealerships in northern NJ and NYC area so there is more competition - not strange that the pricing is better! The NJ dealership sure treated me better than my local dealership in upstate NY where they are the only game in town.

89% MSRP for your vehicle would have been $33731. 89-90% MSRP is what folks are paying as posted on this thread.
Edmund's TMV seems a pretty good way to tell what to pay for a vehicle, but it may be complicated to enter all of the options into the TMV calculator.
In an area with competing dealers I would not pay more than 89% MSRP for a 2005.

Your quote amounts to 90% MSRP, right in line with what most Edmund's posters are getting. The thing that bothers me is the "plus fees". $33897 is a good price, but not so good if you add fees to that.

Well if you bought the vehicle in September 2004 then the price would be fairly reasonable IMO, since your car is fully loaded. Again, it all depends on the dealerships. Most Lexus dealers like to play hardball while some are willing to go out of their way to give you a fair price. My uncle bought an 02 ES300 in October of 2001 and he told me is OTD price came to just over 38K which at that time was a pretty good deal since the car has just been redesigned and dealers aren't ready to deal on a popular, redesigned car. His car is also fully loaded with all the options. Prices also varies from region to region so prices in your region could be higher than the average transaction price. But like I said since you already bought the car enjoy the ride. The ES is a very nice car and I am sure you will be quite happy in the long run.
