I live in TX and got quote for 2005 GX470 with Nav, rear DVD, 3rd row seat for 48800 and another with same options but sports model (with KDSS) is for $48000 (yes $800 less than regular model!). Is it a good price to consider?. Do I need to buy extended warranty?. Any suggestions welcome.

Most of the initial offers I got today are what Edmunds claims is invoice plus 5-8%. I try never to pay more than 3% over invoice for a car that isn't rare. The sport models appear to have over 10% markup, but they are hard to find. I've found about 10 in Southern California, Northern California, and Nevada combined. Longo Lexus lists invoice at about $1000 more than Edmunds -- I wonder if that's a bunch of junk I don't need. My plan -- and one that's worked in the past -- is to walk into the dealer with title to my trade in and a cashier's check for a certain amount and tell them to take it or leave it. This time I'm going to do it by e-mail. I'm going to try for just under 3%. Anyone try this in Socal? Anyone know if any dealers are having problems selling this year? Just received a quote for an 05 GX470 for $47,000 in RI. Car has the following: Nav/Audio 3rd Row & Rear A/C Hitch Bracket Rear Spoiler Cargo Mats & Net Plus Dest Charge Does this price seem to be in line? Looks like about $1600 over invoice. |

I went to Lexus website. Got all email info of all dealership(over 160) and requested from all of them for a quote. Not everyone responed with figures but a lot did. Its a lot of work but it paid off. Negotiated $6450 off MSRP on a model with Nav/DVD/3rd row/spoiler. Dealer is just a drive away. It's not the lowest but you have to consider shipping cost if it is over 500 miles away. Here are just a few of the quotes I got: MSRP Quote $53,797.00 $48,469.50 $50,246.00 $46,585.00 $54,856.00 $50,214.00 $56,148.00 $51,890.00 $54,348.00 $50,609.00 $53,872.00 $48,100.00 $53,296.00 $50,202.00 $54,856.00 $52,201.00 $56,913.00 $54,682.00 $54,348.00 $49,664.00 $52,788.00 $49,310.00 $56,114.00 $50,750.00 $54,348.00 $48,310.00 $54,348.00 $49,850.00 $54,348.00 $49,100.00 $54,856.00 $50,389.00 $54,348.00 $50,310.00 $54,412.00 $51,412.00 $54,348.00 $47,879.00 $54,781.00 $49,900.00 $56,237.00 $50,017.00 $54,781.00 $49,119.00 $54,348.00 $47,314.00 $53,797.00 $49,711.00 $54,348.00 $48,400.00 $49,738.00 $47,338.00 $55,738.00 $52,939.00 $54,348.00 $48,300.00 $54,348.00 $50,848.00 $54,348.00 $47,770.00

Replying to: maxhonda99 (Jul 23, 2005 6:10 am) And to all others who have comments about vibration issues. Here is my take/assesment: GX does not have vibration per say, it is an ultra-smooth plush ride truck. However keep in mind, it is still a "truck", and not a car. I am just guessing that people mentioned getting/hearing knocks after the GX having stopped. I think that is very normal, a teeny slight sound of the "trucks" differential. I kinda even enjoy that slight sound, it gives the feeling of a truck, as if a might power-house has just come to stop. I believe the RX doesn't have this feeling of tick/knocks, as its differential and build is car-based. Now I do hear at times, when my 3rd row seats are folded, they do a little shaking and sometimes a noise on bad road, but thats about it. Overall, the "truck based suv" is SUPERB. The only one thing I dislike our the Halogen Headlamps. I replaced them with a Performance PIAA bulbs, however that still didn't make much difference. Any comments from folks that put HIDs ? I'm at moment against putting them, cause they wont have the essential 'self-leveling' mechanism (and maybe it voids warranty too, or problem when selling to dealer) |
