Good Luck |

The MSRP of '05 GX with Nav and 3rd Roll will be about $51k (according to a NJ dealer), if I wait few months I should be able to buy it at $46k (5k off msrp). I don't have to buy the car right now for tax purpose. The lowest '04 I can find is $44k so it is only $2k difference. With few month waiting and $2k extra, I will get: - $3k more when I sell it because it is 1 model year newer (according to Manheim transactions) - Bluetooth, very useful - Better Nav - 35 more horse power Please share your opinion. Thanks

Replying to: nyc11370 (Dec 02, 2004 6:59 am) Still I believe it's worth every penny for the same reasons you mentioned. Bottom line! You can get a better deal than what the dealer quoted. At least for the second allocation (end-of-december). In fact I've just read on the club lexus forum that $2,000 above invoice is out-there as well. Thanks, |

The 05 MSRP of GX w/ Nav and 3rd Roll is $51,555.00 I will wait few months so I can get $5000 off MSRP. The small price difference between 04 and 05 is not worth the huge improvements: - $3k more when I sell it because it is 1 model year newer (according to Manheim transactions) - Bluetooth, very useful - Better Nav - 35 more horse power - and more... |

After weeks of research on 2004 models, the best I could do was $1000 over invoice, unless I took delivery in Los Angeles, in which case I could have gotten it for $500 over. Since I live in Littleton, Colorado, that was not a good option. The $1000 over was from a broker who got cars from all over US. Costco fleet buying service was $2000 below MSRP, or about $5000 over invoice. Local dealers would not match or beat the $1000 over I could get from the broker. Conclusion: prices are a bit higher in CO than CA, due to higher demand for 4WD vehicles. I was ready to pull the trigger and buy a 2004, but then the broker was having trouble finding the right color and options, so I went with a 2005. I locked in the price yesterday and it will be delivered in about 2 weeks. It is currently in CA somewhere. The deal I got on the 2005 was Invoice plus $2800. The broker did not charge any Dealer handling fee. The local dealers charged an average of $350 for that, so it was really like paying $2450 over invoice. An equivalent 2004 (same options) would have run me $3800 less (basic invoice is $400 higher, plus $1600 for 3rd row seat, plus $2800 over instead of $1000 over). I felt it was worth the extra $3800 to get the better engine, and upgraded NAV, and not have a car that will seem like a year old 3 weeks after I get it. Resale will be that much better also. I got the following options: NAV/ML Sound, Rear Entertainment, 3rd Row Seat, Gold Trim, Rear Spoiler, Trunk Mat & Wheel locks, Tow hitch with ball mount, Chrome exhaust tips. Invoice was $47,565 + $2800 markup + $1863 for 3.7% sales tax = $52,228 total out the door cost. I did not haggle as much for the 2005 as I did when trying to buy a 2004. Once I found the best source for 2004, I used the same guy and paid what he asked for the 2005. I maybe could have haggled him down a few hundred more, but I was getting tired after weeks of shopping and just wanted to close the deal. I ended up paying more than $4000 below MSRP, so I think I did pretty well considering prices are a bit higher here in CO. Costco wanted $2000 below MSRP, and the one dealer I discussed 2005's with said they would be going for about $1000 below MSRP when they came in. When considering 2004's I thought about waiting for the 2005's to come in figuring that may drive down the price of 2004's further, or a rebate would be offered. My broker speculated this would not happen. He said lots of people hold out for the last 2004's figuring they will get a great price. Dealers know this and hold the line on price because they know there will be plenty of people looking to pick up those last few cars for a "bargain". Time will tell if this is true. In my case, it was only a $3800 difference between 2004 and 2005. Thanks to all who post here. It helped me a lot in my search. I can't wait for delivery!

Can anyone tell me what they have seen for the highest residual % the banks are offering for the 05. I am looking to do a 36 or 39 month with 15K miles. Also, I live in Chicago, IL. What is your suggestion for the best price over invoice on the 05 with Navi/3rd row seat that stickers at $51,787. thanks |
