The Edmunds price does not include advertising fees (TDA)which is $418 in NY and could vary. There are other considerations that are not in the Edmunds invoice number.
Also, focus on how much less than MSRP your are paying. MSRP is known and can be found at the Toyota site for any model and option. If your gettting more than $2000 off invoice and not paying any high fees you are starting to approach the sweet spot of RAV4 pricing at least for now.
You are not getting the car at dealer cost. You are getting it at a good market price at Fitzmall.
If you can wait, do it. Sales are slowing and prices will come down. But if you find what you want and want it, Fitzmall is a good as you can get.
No one seems to sell RAV4 for a lower price than fitzmall unless you know someone in fleet sales etc.

Jim...you are starting to quote me.

Wish that were true. I think you meant MSRP.

OH yes, my mistake. My new 2007 RAV4 V6 Sport arrives tomorrow afternoon so my mind (what is left of it) is wandering I guess.

I just put my deposit down on a Black 07 V6 awd Base model last night. I've been looking for awhile and finally pulled the trigger. Got about $900 of MSRP...nothing special but everytime I said anything about price they just brought up the idea of a FWD or i4...
Didnt have much time to hold out becuase I had to register my old Rodeo in Missouri and it wasnt going to pass MO inspections. Anyways Im happy with the purchase, dealer was very helpful finding what I wanted.
Should be here in a week or so~

#962 of 4032 More nightmares with King Toyota in Deerfield Fl..
Oct 04, 2006 (4:12 pm)
after calling Toyota Customerr Care I got a call today from King Toyota Customer Care...about my GAP cancellation. The lady was very nice. She said it was cancelled on Sept 9th and money went to bank. I told her no, I have the paperwork in front of me and it was cancelled on August the 13th...and what bank did the refund go. She spoke broken English and said she did not know but would forward me to the Finance Manager...could not get the Finance Manager but said she would call me...that never happened. Of course she said nothing could be done about being lied to about the invoice price...somehow I knew that. Toyota Customer Care has been very fast but when it gets down to King Toyota...nothing happens. RAV4 is great..still average around 24 in mixed driving and I have checked it several time.
#963 of 4032 How to buy a RAV 4
Oct 04, 2006 (7:54 pm)
I just bought a new RAV4 from Daytona Toyota. My sales rep and the manager were very accommodating. I waited 4 weeks to get the RAV4 I wanted (2007 Limited 4 cyl with JBL upgrade and bluetooth) and there were no pressure sales to buy off the lot. I avoided the unnecessary costs like the toyogaurd (saved $699) and it gave me time to research prices and sell my car instead of trade-in. I also got my loan pre-approved by my local credit union so I didnít have to deal with the dealershipís finance department and be pressured into buying GAP and other warranties or insurance I did not need. When I walked into the dealership I had the down payment check, loan envelop, and old tag from the car I sold. No hassle buying! I new the prices and agreed to pay the $500 over invoice. I think by selling my car and not trading it in and having all of my loan work done ahead of time, I saved myself at least $3000 not to mention avoiding the aggravation of negotiations with the trade and finance department. I would highly recommend selling your car and have loan work done ahead of time before purchasing a new car. By the way, I love my new RAV4!
#964 of 4032 Be firm on your offer!!

After 2 months of research, I purchased a black 2007 RAV4 Limited 4x4 V6 for 27,000 +TTL = $29416.74 . Black was my last choice but there were only (2) 2007 and (1) 2006 among 9 dealers in the sacramento region with the options I wanted. I used Consumer Reports new car price service ($14) to determine invoice ($25969), MSRP ($28749), holdbacks ($517 based on 2006 figures).
2007 RAV4 Limited 4x4 V6 w/ JBL w/Bluetooth, 3rd Row Seat, Tow package, floor mats, Rear bumper applique.
Paid Cost Breakdown:
Document prep fees 45
Sales tax 2096
DMV electronic file 28
License fees 176
CA Tire fees 8.75
In hindsight, I think I got an OK deal considering the rarity of the model and options i wanted in my region but I wish I started at a lower beginning price (say, invoice of $26000). I think I could have gotten it at a better price considering what I've read on this forum with people getting it close to invoice or below. All i know is if you stick to one fair price, the dealer will probably end up selling it to you. The sales manager tried to go in between the MSRP and my firm $27,000 3-4 times to no avail.
Has anyone else purchased a similar third row RAV4 Limited V6 4x4? What did you pay? Do any fees above look excessive? Any other negotiating, research, tips to share for my next vehicle purchase?

Ours is pretty much the same as yours w/out the 3rd row because we got the 2006. So it didn't come with blue tooth, but we got the side curtain airbags which were optional. We also got the moonroof. We paid $28,000 for ours. Gotta remember these RAV4s are very popular right now so it's hard to wheel and deal with them. We ended up taking the price because they met us on our trade in. We knew we couldn't get what we wanted for the trade anywhere else. We also got black, but that is because Nautical Blue wasn't an option in our region.
