Husband and I want to buy a RAV4 LTD-preapproved by credit union for loan. Will drive to NC, SC, GA, VA, KY, OH or anywhere within a few hundred miles or so. Knoxville dealers seem overpriced -did my research and homework; thanks to this forum. Any suggestions???

Hi all- First, let me thank everyone on this forum- it has been wonderful in providing me with the best information for buying my new Rav 4. I am an owner of an 06 Rav base model V-6 4x4 with 55000 miles on it. My goal was to see if I could get into a new Rav for approximately what I pay now for my 06 Rav. I believe that overall I got a good deal, but please feel free to offer your feedback. I tried to do this deal in parts. First, I secured a good rate from my local credit union for financing. Next, I emailed several dealerships in my area (central Massachusetts) with a specific car request: a 2008 V-6 4x4 Rav base model with the 3rd row seat option. All the cars in the area that have the 3rd row seat option also come with a few other options, like the towing prep package, roof rack, mud guards, and carpeted floor mats. Most dealers either would not offer a deal via email or were around $25000. Acton Toyota offered me $24350, so I decided to start there. I was able to get Acton to come down to a selling price of $24111. Now all I had to worry about was how much they would offer me for my trade, and I told them up front that I would not do the deal if I did not get a good offer. They came back with $15000 as an offer. As good as I thought this was, I asked for another $500.00, and they gave it to me. So my 06 Rav with 55000 miles on it held 62% of its original value... not too shabby! So the deal was done- $24111 for the car, $15500 for my trade. All in all, I will end up spending an extra $23 per month for a new Rav compared to what I paid for my 06, and that is simply due to how much I still owe on the 06 Rav. There actually is another twist to this story, as Acton couldn't locate the car I wanted in time for a trip I will be taking. My sales rep there, knowing that he would lose a sale, actually told me the locations of other area dealers with this specific car in stock, that would not swap cars with him, so that I could get what I needed in time for my trip. All in all, it was a very honorable thing for him to do. I ended up using the offer from Acton to get the car I needed for the same price in Savannah Metallic at Toyota of Greenfield, although they did not seem pleased at all to honor the same deal that I got offered at Acton. Although Acton Toyota lost a sale, they have not lost me as a customer. I will continue to get my car serviced through them, and when I need to buy my next car, I will make them my first stop. Let me know your thoughts... |

I negotiated $300 below invoice for a 2008 Rav4 FWD V6 loaded with a lot of features. In the end, I decided to buy a Nissan Rogue instead. I am located in Santa Barbara area of California. It's difficult to get good prices here because there are few dealers and competition is light. If I was in Los Angeles or Ventura, I am sure I could get a better deal. |

Looking to purchase a RAV4 Limited V6 AWD this weekend in Portland, Oregon area (no sales tax!) . Thus far, I have two decent offers I'm getting the respective dealers to sweeten. These are by no means the best I expect to do, but are the initial offers from the dealers. Frankly, there is still some "fat" in these deals such as "accessory packages" and "ad fees" which I refuse to pay for. Nevertheless, interested in hearing how these compare to other deals discussed here. Deal 1: Limited, AWD, V6 with included Options: EJ- JBL Radio HD- Heated seats LA- Leather seat package RL- Daytime running lights SR- Moonroof TO- Tow prep package MF- Mudguards Rear bumper applique Current Offered Price: $28,674 Edmunds TMV: $28,913 Edmunds Invoice: $27,869 Deal 2: Limited, AWD, V6 with included Options: EJ- JBL Radio HD- Heated seats LA- Leather seat package RL- Daytime running lights TO- Tow prep package CF- carpet/mats Rear bumper applique Current Offered Price: $28,444 Edmunds TMV: $28,281 Edmunds Invoice: $27,275

Hello, everyone! I just bought this car TONIGHT and wanted to check that I did okay on the pricing!! Edmunds CarSpace is such a great resource! I'm in SoCal, and it was a 2006 Toyota Certified Used Vehicle with 16,302 miles, a RAV4 Limited with the V6 FWD engine, automatic transmission in Blizzard Pearl (metallic white color) and Ash grey cloth seats. I think it's very pretty and in very nice, clean used condition. Additional options included: -JBL 9-speaker sound system w/6-disc in-dash CD changer -Glass moonroof -3rd-row seat, Hill start/descent assist -Front/side airbags -Carpeted mats -Cargo tray -Rear bumper applique I paid $19,999 for the car, plus $1995 for an additional $0-deductible Toyota-backed bumper-to-bumper 7-yr/100,000-mile warranty (not third-party; I can use any Toyota dealer for repairs) on top of the 1 year of original factory warranty remaining and 7-yr/100,000-mile Certified powertrain warranty), bringing it to $21,994. I thought maybe getting so much warranty was excessive, but on the CarFax, even though it was a single-owner car and with such low miles, it said that a computer module had been replaced last year, and I really did not want to risk anything going wrong with this car while it was being financed. With TTL, this came to: $23,918.46. They gave me $7750 for my 2003 Camry XLE V6 trade-in (85,000 miles) and I put $3000 down, so I ended up financing $13,168.46

| As reading this forum was so helpful in my decision to purchase a 2008 RAV4, I thought I would return the favor and let people know what I paid for my car. I purchased a 2008 RAV, automatic, 4 cyl with 4WD and the 3rd row option, which also comes with the day time running lights, roof rack, and steel wheels. It also had floor mats. I purchased it for $23,496 plus tax and title. This is invoice. I emailed every dealer in Western WA as well as in Portland OR. No one would give me less than invoice, most would match, and one asked me how much profit I thought the dealer deserved and asked me to set the price there. I feel confident that I got the best deal I could. Thank you RAV4 discussion group. | |

Replying to: firsttoyota1 (Jun 27, 2008 12:20 am) Thus, the total NOW spent on the car + warranty not incl TTL was $20,804. Not bad, I think, for a Certified 2006 Limited FWD V6 with only 16k miles, especially when compared to a brand-new 2008 model!!! YAY. I am now extremely happy, and can't wait for years and years of fun to be had with this car. |
