Replying to: coollunchbox (Dec 29, 2007 12:25 pm) even though I am paying 26,800... it was 150 below dealers invoice.. which was 550 over mfg invoice I got from edmunds..of course dealers invoice includes adv fees etc. Good to be down in so cal if you're buying RAV4. Seems like you can find and pick one up relatively easily. |

HELP Am condsidering a 2007 Rav 4 Limited/FWD/2.3 Liter I4 This vehicle is certified pre-owned with 11.5K miles Options: JBL CD player Daytime Running Lights Dark Tint on windows maybe after market According to this website info: MSRP $24,570 Invoice $22,661 Smart Target Price $23,615 Dealer Offered $22,994 and $1,200 on my 1995 Chevy Blazer on trade So the vehicle is $21,794 before a $399 "processing fee" and Taxes/Tag. I'd be OTD at $23,624 but they want me to add $875+tax ($927.50) for a "Wrap Package" which is Bumper to Bumper factory warranty for 7years/100K. Since this is a 2007 it would time out in 2014 and I would get 89K miles covered. With this Wrap I'd be out the door $24,552 Any responses would be appreciated. Set to deal tomorrow 12/31/07.

Replying to: cbond1 (Dec 30, 2007 5:22 am) I'm trying to buy by tomorrow too and we're still $1000 apart; so I may not make it. But there's always another car and another day. And with all the information available online (Consumer Reports Car Buying reports), no reason a dealer can't make a profit and a buyer can avoid paying too much. The process shouldn't be such a hassle, but it is what it is. Good luck.

Replying to: ellay (Dec 29, 2007 7:46 pm) OK Thanks for the clarification. As for me, my out the door cost was $23448.50. The breakdown was $22000 for the purchase price plus $1320 PA 6% sales tax plus $128.50 which included PA Tire Tax ($5.00), $55.00 for documentary fees and $68.50 for Title & Tags. As far as paying $135 under invoice, I said it was under the invoice that the dealer showed me, not what is on Edmunds. It probably still includes hold back. Let us know how your actual deal goes. | Well, it doesn't look like end of month/year is a great time in this area to be looking for a Rav4. Previous posts on here indicated there wasn't much motivation at Louisville area Toyota dealers and they were right. I've emailed and visited, and am getting quotes very near MSRP, plus one dealer just told me they'd have to charge me $250 to "locate" a Rav4 for me. That little Honda is looking better all the time. gonna have to switch forums!! Thanks for all the great insight on this thread. Ellay | |

Replying to: ellay (Dec 30, 2007 8:19 am) Thanks for the quick response. I "think" the deal is OK, but who knows. The Rav have been selling fast here (Northwest Florida). Have been obsessing about for days. I think the Rav I'm looking at is a lot of car for the money after driving several other cars. As for the Extended Factory Warranty on the Certified Used Car, I'm thinking of getting it. I realize the car will still have over two years and 25K miles factory on it, but with the cost of even minor repairs these days, it doesn't seem like that bad a deal. A couple of pesky problems just out of warranty could cost you a boat load of money. Will post what happens tomorrow. |

| I am interested in purchasing in the Phila/Lancaster/York area and saw your price of $23448 OTD. Can you tell me where you made the deal? Thanks. | |

Here is the basic Information from the sticker: Base 25840 CD Changer 200 Cargo Net and Cover 140 DRL 40 Moonroof 900 Tow Prep 160 Mats 199 Dest 685 I negotiated the following: 24000 price 1770 tax 45 reg/title processing fee 190 reg/title 10 inspection fee 12.50 tire fee 26027.50 OTD I thought this was a fair deal, not great, not bad. The car has turned out to have damage on the underside. (The four sides and top are fine.) I did not think I had to have a mechanic put a brand new Toyota up on a rack. At the price negotiated, do you think the dealer knew about the underside damage? I wish you all better luck. |
