Not sure how you can get an accurate invoice. I noticed a wide variation as well, depending on the source - KBB, Edmunds, the dealer, etc. I live in Tampa Bay, Florida nd recently purchased my vehicle after shopping price for awhile. I negotiated with several dealers over the course of a couple of weeks. Most negotiations were on the internet or phone. I also checked CarsDirect, AutoAdvisor and CarBargains. As I understand it, there is a Southeast Toyota admin charge to dealers in the South of $629.00 which makes it more expensive to purchase in AL, FL, GA, NC & SC.

I ended up paying $23,200 at a local dealer for the base V6, 2WD with lifetime powertrain warranty and these options:

Roof Rack
Tonneau cover
AM/FM 6 CD
Running lights
Bumper cover
Floor Mats

$24,800 with tax, tag & title

These were the prices I was given from the buying services:

CarsDirect - $25,150 OTD
AutoAdvisor - $23,750 (plus tax, tag, title)
CarBargains does not negotiate price on the base model

I'm looking to purchase a '07 RAV4 2WD. I'm not sure what would be a good price for the Sport or the Limited. The price of the Sport w/Moonroof, Carpet Floor/Cargo Mat Set, Tonneau Cover, SET Destination Charge (live in GA), and SET Admin Fee. Invoice Total + 6% sales tax = $24,486

Limited Invoice Total + 6% sales tax - $25,053

Is it possible to get this kind of a deal??
How do I start dealing with the Internet Sales Manager? I read on Edmunds that is the best way to go to get a good deal. Thank you all in advance as this is my very first experience.

Thank you!

Go to CarsDirect, click on the vehicle and options you want. This will give you a good idea of the price. Just remember that CarsDirect adds on a dealer fee to that amount...I think it was about $500...so you would want to talk to a customer service rep. to find out the actual price. Then you can use this number to negotiate with a local dealer to see if they will beat the CarsDirect price. Just ask to speak to their internet manager. I was able to purchase from my local dealer for $350 less than CarsDirect...but it took a bit of negotiation. If I couldn't, I would have bought from CarsDirect. You can search the internet to read up on their service. I read that they are the equivalent of an Amazon for car sales. eOpinions has a lot of customer reviews. You might also check out CarBargains. They are a non-profit and are supposed to be the best car buying service. You won't know the price, though, until you pay $190 and wait for them to provide you with the competitive bids they receive from 5 dealers.

When should we expect 08 RAV4 at the dealerships? Do people think that there will be a bump in the prices? I am toying with the idea of buying a RAV4 and wondering whether to hold off for the 08 model. On the same token, would there be any incentives on the 07 RAV4?
Any inputs? Thanks!

below invoice price purchases? by khunter1

The prices quoted here that include tax etc. are confounding. If you bought at invoice or invoice plus/minus some dollar amount, please specify the actual price paid to the dealer and skip the tax or TTL add-on as it has nothing to do with what you paid the dealerand can't be readily helpful to us por souls still shopping without pulling out the calculator to refigure your version of "Invoice mPrice"

OK, that said is anybody buying Rav Sports or Limited at invoice and below invoice? Been Getting consistent offers of $500 over invoice from several dealers as the lead in offer, thus I'm thinking I can do better and that there is a big holdback or other hidden profit they are drawing upon. Duh, I know.
Also the 3 websites I checked gave consistent invoice prices so it is a suprise folks are reporting meaningful inconsistencies. Are folks really getting inconsistent invoice prices off the internet for identical cars?

Thanks.

Thoughts and experiences appreciated.

Meant to say I'm shopping in Colorado/Utah with dealers between Denver and Salt Lake, if that has bearing on ability to get near or below invoice pricing.

Thanks. And I found the spell checker this time. yikes.

mmking31,

I'm looking to buy a Limited Rav4 and from what I've found, that is a pretty good deal (otd). Can you share the dealership you went to? I got a quote from a dealer that was $100 over invoice? of 24,284 (otd with 26,577), but it also included leather heated seats that I didn't want living in Cali. The dealer told me that they are coming pre-packaged like this on the limited??? but, since your quote was with cloth seats, I was wondering if you could tell me where you bought. thanks!

Bought a V6 Sport 4 X 4 with 6 disc cd, tow prep package, mudguards, for hundreds under invoice, I think it as $25,332 (+ sales tax, registration) at Boch Toyota in MA. I think this was like 4-500 under invoice.
