Crossroads by sobrokenow

A reputable dealership in Buffalo NY offered to sell me a 2000 A6 2.7T for 15000 before tax. The car has 64,000 miles on it. They claimed to have had an oil leak fixed (2400$) at the Audi dealership prior to selling me the car. And they told me the brakes may need to be replaced soon although they pass New York State inspection for now. I had the car evaluated by my own mechanic (they werent expecting this), and he told me 1) the turbos were still covered in oil (actively leaking vs just not cleaned off), 2) front brakes need to be replaced, 3) check engine light just came on. If the dealership addresses all these problems do you suppose its a good deal. Or does it sound like the car is going to cause more trouble.
I loved driving the A6 and although I can get a newer A4 for the same price, its just not quite the same feeling......
Comments, Suggestions..?

Leaking turbos? I'm not sure what that means...

But, I get the feeling that may be the most expensive $15K car you'll ever own..

I drive the same 2000 A6 2.7T and if the Buffalo, N.Y. dealership will fix the brakes, the check engine light, and replace the turbos (they have to be replaced in pairs), with 64,000 miles, $15,000 is a pretty good price.

I wouldn't touch the car if they refuse to replace the turbos. This repair alone could cost $5,000 plus. Once they start leaking oil, replacement is the only option.

I am looking at a 2006 Audi A6....in my opinion the numbers they have given me are completely ridicuous.

Invoice on the car is $51,340....24 month lease...12K miles per year....$5,000 down and monthly payment of $670.

Know this is not a good deal but not sure what a good deal is given these parameters....any help would be appreciated.

Those numbers are not ridiculous.

Audi has a base $46,140 A6 3.2 Quattro car on the website $519 mo plus tax for a 24 mo lease w/10k year miles. Total out of pocket was about $3700. And the dealer has to make a $1700 discount off sticker to meet those numbers.

If your A6 has an Invoice of 51,340, the MSRP is probably about $54,000 or so. That's $7-8,000 more car and you're going from 10 to 12k miles on your lease.

Also, what is sales tax in your state? That 519 number is pre tax, and can easily got to $550 depending on where you live. Is that $670 number out the door?

You need to talk to Mark Cincinnati, I believe he is driving the same model Audi for $586.00/month including tax on a 36 month lease with only a plate transfer fee for a downpayment.

You also have to consider that Audi has had up to $1500 lease cash at times for previous Audi customers , so your deal may not be the same as a current Audi owner.

Thanks for the advice. The dealership has addressed the check engine light and is putting in new brakes. They said they sent the car to the Audi dealership to have the oil leak addressed and they repaired/replaced the cam seals. I wonder if any other audi owners have had problems with this, and if its likely to recur.......
I hope Im not making a mistake here, but I plan to purchase an extended warranty (2000$ for 3 yrs, unlim miles) and hope for the best........

Saw the last 05' A6 in the lot with Premium, Convenient, Sport, navigation, and a couple of other options for a MSRP 50.7K. The car is new and never titled but has 1,500 miles in it by demo.
Dealer would agree to let it go at 41K ( 44K including tax and TTL). How good is this deal?
Please comment if you bought or dealed with a new 05' A6 lately.

There's $4500 cash back on 05 3.2 models. You're getting almost $10,000 of sticker on a car with 1500 miles on it. I'd say that's a pretty good deal and I'd jump on it if you're OK with the color and such. You've still got a ton of warranty and free maintenance left with that low of a mileage, and it's never been titled. There's about $3500 of dealer profit in that car from invoice to MSRP, so he's giving you the holdback and I doubt the dealer is making any money on that car. I susspect they're just trying to clear it off the lot and cut it loose.
