Quirk's ad by wallet

Since a few folks have mentioned Quirk, along with just how much a dealer can knock off the price, just google 'quirk chevrolet braintree'. Their web site shows their current ads from Boston's two major newspapers; IIRC, the ads are under the 'specials' link. Their website also shows their complete inventory, albeit not in real time (it's usually a few days slow), but you can get a good idea of everything they have on the lot.

It's a great research tool, just don't expect to use it for pricematching purposes. The other dealer will either bash Quirk in any number of way, or, as one salesman told my wife a few days ago: "Quirk is like Walmart, and we're the local mom-and-pop. There is no way we can match Quirk's ad prices.".

Tho, I have found a dealer or two that unintentionally beat Quirk in specific situations because they had to move cars off the lot or notes were due......

I am new to the board and I can't believe the prices I am seeing but assuming I have no GM dollars and will pay cash what could I expect to pay for a loaded Tahoe LT 4WD. I am in Long Island, NY and could travel a bit if it is worth it. I know someone of selling there 1999 Tahoe with 10k LT with 4WD and leather, edmunds and kelly blue book place the value around $14.3k give or take on the options. The seller is looking for $19-$20k. Which figure is more accurate?
Thanks,
CK

Dealer Hold Back by chlystek

When Dealers transfer vehicles between their dealerships to get a vehicle a customer wants, how do they treat hold back? Also, I though holdback diminishes over time - 90 days I though--so how do you really deal with this issue? Thanks. E

In this market, I would not accept anything less than 25% off sticker price as my final price out the door.

So the used 99 going for $19-$20k should never fly because you could fetch a new line for $40k x 25% = $30,000.

Agree, would expect AT LEAST 25% off an '04.

In late June/early July, jtaub and I were closer to 30%, but that was the exception then, not the rule......

would you suggest waiting to year end where there will be a squeeze to push the 04's to make room for the 05's or is that already going on? What would i be looking at $40k for a loaded LT?

It's been sorta year end for SUVs for a coupla months now. It's a trade off: if you wait for prices to drop more, you'll have less of a selection of the exact vehicle that you want. I'm playing that game right now with the Malibu Maxx.

Check back to message #99 in this thread.

Good barometer of where prices are headed......

Depends on what the sticker price of that loaded LT is. Most loaded LT 4WD go for $46K+. You should be getting them down to the $33-$35K range.
