I am telling you,Chrysler is not going to offer the friends discount anymore.

Well, you seem to be the only one who has heard anything about this, including the Chrysler customer service rep I spoke with on Friday. The rep sounded like she was somewhere in the US, not India.

Don't you think that that if this was announced the Detroit Free Press would have included it in a story by now? They seem to have an inside scoop on what's going on with Chrysler before anyone else.

You probably have not heard about it is because it was just announced yesterday.

So, what's the ORIGINAL source on this announcement? Link?

If you interpreted the Detroit Free Press story on Friday March 21 to mean that the Friends program is ending, that's not what it says. The "extended family" EC discount program ended way back on January 2. This is not late-breaking news.

I agree with tedebear...there has been no announcement to employees of any cancellation of the friends program. Actually, it is a good incentive program to get more people to buy their cars. The difference between 1% and 5% below invoice is a couple hundred dollars of profit.

Going to buy this weekend by mcmullen2002

I am going buy a T&C Limited this weekend - are there any Friends codes available? We test drove the T&C, Odyssey and Sienna and researched extensively before settling on the T&C. I truly believe that all are good choices, but we really loved the features on the T&C.

Help would be truly appreciated and most definitely used.
Thank you!

I too will be purchasing a T&C this weekend or next. We test drove the T&C, Toyota and Honda. Like the look of the Honda more - but the features and price of the T&C can't be beat!

We would be very greateful for a Friends and Family code. Many thanks in advance.

Would Love Some Input on My "Deal" by sagetips

I ordered a 2008 T&C on 2/4/08 (before discovering this forum) and am still waiting for delivery. Here's the deal I worked:

$30,091 T&C Touring w/25L pkg and AGV (swivel N go seating)
- 3,000 Rebates (incl $500 from local auto show at time ordered)
   1,815 (Lifetime wrap around warranty - $100ded/covers 5,000 components)
   1,828 Taxes & Title

$30,740 Cost to me

I plan to hold on to this vehicle for a looong time, so the lifetime warranty is important. I think I've got a good deal, but the folks on this board sure know a lot more about these things than I. I wasn't aware of the "friends" discount and don't know if this would make a big difference in the pricing I'm getting.

I'd welcome any suggestion on how to improve the deal. Nothing is signed at this point and given that I've had to wait far longer than expected, I wouldn't feel too bad about bringing something up.

Thanks

I'd welcome any suggestion on how to improve the deal.

You can look up the invoice on Edmunds. Then subtract 1% off that price to get the approximate Friends discount price. Any rebates or other price incentives are further subtracted from that for even greater savings.

If you find that the price is significantly lower than the deal you have going then post a request on some of the Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep forums for a Friends discount number. Many Chrysler employees are also car enthusiasts who visit the forums often.

Do a Google search for some of the popular forums. There are many more than just here on Edmunds.

That's a great suggestion. This forum has been a big help in our car buying process. I continue to get a quality education and many good tips. Once again, we are looking to purchase this weekend and we will use your suggestion - a Friends code would be still be great though!

Anyone looking for a Friend's discount and are having a hard time finding a number might want to try this from a member named slaphappy.

Friends Discount

The Friend's discount price is listed next to the PP (Preferred Pricing) code on the invoice.

What I paid by tlmhg

I love the new van. The Mygig entertainment center is more than I thought it would be. Like the touch screen.

I purchased at touring K pkg and Swivel and go seats

$28,174
-$2750 in rebates
Total before warranty and taxes =$25,424

I bought a warranty separately at the dealer. Once we figured the powertrain warranty was going to get this van to an old age, we figured the rest may need one too. Maybe this is where they make their money.
7/100,000 warranty $1755 ( taxed additional$114)

I read about a "donkey kick" technique listed on here in Feb. Basically, get a number of dealers to contact you all thru email and don't give them your phone number until you get where you want price wise. I never had dealers calling me.

Good luck to those of you out there still looking and buying. I am so glad to be done with it.
