What do I need to do / or bring to the dealership to get the Friends Discount? My friend work at Chrysler and says that all I need to do is deal on the car and then have them call him for validation of his EE number and get some info. Has anyone here done the Friends Discount? What did you do? What pitfalls to avoid?

Look for the "PP" (Preferred Pricing) code and that is the Friends price - no add-on fees for advertising, etc. They can charge up to an additional $75 for a documentation fee. A pitfall to avoid has to do with your trade-in. About all I can say on that is to do your research and know what your trade is worth before you get to the dealer. Edmunds and Kelly Blue Book (kbb.com) will give you a good idea of the amount. Remember, the dealer isn't making much off the sale to someone with a Friends discount. |

It has been my observation from the control number discount "giver outer" side (hey, that's a catchy name) that if someone walks in with a discount they'd better have done their homework on what their trade is worth. A dealer isn't making much off someone with a Friends discount and a few may try to make some of that up on the trade. I'm not saying that will happen every time but it did to me last September and I've gotten similar feedback from a few of the people I gave numbers out to. My salesman even said that they couldn't offer me as much as the Saturn dealer down the road would on my old car because of my employee discount.
