Replying to: juna (Jan 22, 2008 5:45 am) Quoted Invoice: 25,577 Actual dealer invoice: 24,807 The only unusual thing I see about that is the Friends discount is never above the actual dealer invoice. It is 1% below the invoice (actual, not quoted). The EC discount, when that program was still around, was even slightly lower. The dealer MUST show you the invoice if you have a discount number. If they want to sell it below the discount price listed on the invoice (the "PP" Friends code, or "EP" Employee Purchase code) that's up to them. However, they cannot sell it ABOVE that price. Rebates and other price incentives are subtracted from the discount price for even greater savings.

Replying to: staciy (Jan 22, 2008 3:43 pm) Also, you can determine the Friends discount price by looking up the invoice on Edmunds. The Friends price is 1% below the invoice. Any rebates or other price incentives are subtracted from that for even greater savings. |

Replying to: tedebear (Jan 22, 2008 9:30 am) I want to correct part of a post I made earlier. Shown below on the employee website is what it says about the discount programs. Q.Do all dealerships have to provide the employee discount? A. No. Dealerships are independently owned and operated. Therefore they do not have to provide the discount to an employee. They also can elect not to sell a specific vehicle under the program.

Basically, I can't decide between the T and C or the Caravan 2008 - I don't like the wood trim in the T and C. Does anyone know how to get the TC without the wood trim. Thanks so much to all |

What do I need to do / or bring to the dealership to get the Friends Discount? My friend work at Chrysler and says that all I need to do is deal on the car and then have them call him for validation of his EE number and get some info. Has anyone here done the Friends Discount? What did you do? What pitfalls to avoid?

Replying to: mrcuban (Jan 23, 2008 8:42 pm) In addition to what he said... If you walk into a dealership with a Friends discount number they are required to show you the invoice if you request it. Look for the "PP" (Preferred Pricing) code and that is the Friends price - no add-on fees for advertising, etc. They can charge up to an additional $75 for a documentation fee. A pitfall to avoid has to do with your trade-in. About all I can say on that is to do your research and know what your trade is worth before you get to the dealer. Edmunds and Kelly Blue Book (kbb.com) will give you a good idea of the amount. Remember, the dealer isn't making much off the sale to someone with a Friends discount. |
