2008 Chrysler T&C Touring with M package + extras by gunksny

Just bought a 2008 Chrysler T&C Touring with M package + power fold down seats, moonroof, sirius TV for $32,555 (without taxes/reg/etc). Opted to take 1.9% financing instead of and additional $1500 cash back. About $600 less than invoice as far as I can tell.

Don't know about other areas, but in the NE, these cars are hard to find, they are taking a long time to build and are rolling onto the lots in small numbers so I feel pretty lucky. Also heard that no better incentives will be coming in Nov due to great demand for this car.

Please reassure me about the MiGIG system. The Wall Street Journal did a spot on it and they said it was poor. They could not seem to download from their I-Pod. They also did not like the screen display. I hope I will not be disappointed.

I don't have an iPod, so I can't comment on how well the MyGIG interfaces with it.

On the screen display, it's not a 1080p HDTV resolution but I think it is nice for GPS navigation and the other things it does. I haven't tried watching a DVD movie on it yet. I guess I should at least verify that it works. I probably wouldn't have bought the car if it didn't have the MyGIG already in it.

You can see it in action for yourself if you stop by a dealer and have them show you some of what it does.

Did you see Chrysler's online demo for MyGIG? www.chrysler.com/mygig

I can't imagine you can download songs off your iPod. You can't even download songs off an iPod to a Mac, I doubt it is possible. Sounds like an error to me. Besides, you've got a USB port, just plug it in and roll. I'll bet there's an easy fix for the USB error. At the very least, there's an audio input jack that'll connect to the headphone out on your iPod.

Maybe you can do it with other brands of MP3 players? That's just not a feature Apple allows.

As far as I know, the MiGig system lets you to load CDs into the hard drive acting like an iPod.

Yes, the manual for MyGIG says that you can load up to 1,600 songs on the HD and create a virtual jukebox.

Part of the 20GB HD space is used for the navigation database and other things. I don't know how much is reserved for music files or how they arrived at the 1,600 song figure.

The more I think about it the more I agree with you. Apple doesn't let you do anything with that I-Pod and protects themselves well. I'm surprised that a company like the WSJ would not have realized that much.

As for the interface display - nothing is going to be as good as an IPod right now. That is why they sell so well even though so many competitors exist. Bought my kids an imitation IPod a year ago for X-mas. It immediately got returned for an IPod. Kids won't have anything except an IPod because of the likability of the interface.

If someone is expecting Apple to come in and design an interface as nice as an IPod - you'd add at least a grand or two to the price of the van. Right now MyGIG seems adequate - not fancy, but that may improve in the next years models.

Do those who currently have the MyGig find the Navi system easy to use?

Just an FYI, Harman Kardon makes an iPod interface that's been getting rave reviews.

The Ford SYNC system is really cool, it recognizes songs, artists, playlists. It can even read you your emails and text messages. But, alas, they dropped their minivans. However, Ford's proprietary agreement ends in 09 so, other vehicles will offer it. On Ford vehicles it only costs $395 and doesn't have any renewal costs associated with it. All you need is a Bluetooth phone and an MP3 player. Hopefully it will be that inexpensive on other vehicles. Oh and Apple and VW have a similar system that will be introduced soon.

I worry about the hard drive in the Migig system, hard drives fail eventually. What's that gonna cost? And will I still be able to use my stereo without it? Personally, I'd rather just have a nice interface with my iPod and forego the other stuff.

Its a little misleading when MyGIG touts a 20gb harddrive, when only 6 gb is usable for music files. Does anyone know the limit for picture files?

Sirius TV picture quality is a little grainy, but I don't think you can expect much better - after all, you are watching TV in your CAR!!!
