| I purchased a town country touring with the special edition package consisting of leather-dvd player-gps-trailer tow package-lets just say its loaded its sticked out at just under $36,000 not much less then a limited's base price. questioned why anyone would order and purchase a touring when they could get most everything this has on it for a limited price until I found out it was a sales mans personal van that he special ordered and drove as a demo. He didn't like the body cladding or the chrome wheels but did like the two tone leather better with the special edition package. I ended up purchasing his demo for an out the door price of $26,783.00 it had 4,987 miles on it. The sales people at this dealership have to purchase "make payments" on their demo and once it gets close to the 5,000 miles park it if they drive it over that 5,000 mile mark the company "Chysler" conciders it used anything under can be sold as a new vechical minis the 5,000 miles and the in service date it was entered into the demo system that is highly discounted with the owner purchaser getting the remaining warrenty less the under 5,000 miles it had been driven. Its treated as new plus any thing the saleman had added such as running boards for example are warrenteed for 12 months-12,000 miles because they are a Mopar option. My Brother purchased a touring without nearly the options as my t&c it stickering at about $31.000 with used the employee discount and still paid almost $4,500 more then I did. I now have just over 10,000 on it and am most satisfied. I had planned on purchasing a new 2008 but working in a auto factory myself I will hold out for another demo a couple years down the road when I know for sure the bugs are out of them. Maybe some one can find a 2008 demo at a large dealership and strike a very good deal as all rebates apply to them also as long as they are a Chysler owned vehical still they are like mine concidered new. cheers | |

Does the residual change with the negotiated price or is it a fixed figure? example using 50% residual. Would the residual be $15k on a $30k purchase price but $13k on a $26k negotiated price? or does residual value not move from a fixed dollar amount?

Replying to: johnbrain (Oct 26, 2007 10:28 am) For example a vehicle with a MSRP of $30,000, and a residual value of 55% implies the vehicle should be worth $16,500 at the end of the lease. Of course this is speculation. Subtracting the residual value from the MSRP gives you the depreciation of the vehicle over the life of the lease. This is what the lease is based on and this is the cost of the "vehicle rent" charge you are using. Using the previous example, subtracting the $16,500 residual value from the MSRP of $30,000 gives a gross depreciation amount of $13,500. If you lease this vehicle for 36 months, the monthly use, or depreciation amount, will be $375.00. This is a simple example of the process. The depreciation amount will change with dealer discounts or money the customer puts down. If a customer, or dealer with incentives, were to put $2700 down, the $13,500 depreciation value with become $10,800, The new monthly depreciation value will be $300. Remember in a lease there are two components, the depreciation which typically uses residual values supplied by the manufacture, and the money factor, which is a monthly interest charge added to the monthly depreciation amount. A “perfect lease" would have a very high residual value and a very low money factor. The former typically is not negotiable, since it is set by the manufacture. The later is negotiable. This is where the lease variance usually can be found. Mark

Replying to: withalacrity (Oct 27, 2007 1:29 pm) "Subtracting the residual value from the MSRP gives you the depreciation of the vehicle over the life of the lease." Depreciation = Selling price minus residual, not: MSRP minus residual. Selling prices are negotiable on leased vehicles, just like they are on purchases. You should always negotiate the lowest price possible, as every dollar lower goes directly in your pocket. regards, kyfdx Host-Prices Paid Forums |

Just bought a 2008 Chrysler T&C Touring with M package + power fold down seats, moonroof, sirius TV for $32,555 (without taxes/reg/etc). Opted to take 1.9% financing instead of and additional $1500 cash back. About $600 less than invoice as far as I can tell. Don't know about other areas, but in the NE, these cars are hard to find, they are taking a long time to build and are rolling onto the lots in small numbers so I feel pretty lucky. Also heard that no better incentives will be coming in Nov due to great demand for this car. |

Replying to: maryh3 (Nov 02, 2007 3:03 pm) On the screen display, it's not a 1080p HDTV resolution but I think it is nice for GPS navigation and the other things it does. I haven't tried watching a DVD movie on it yet. I guess I should at least verify that it works. I probably wouldn't have bought the car if it didn't have the MyGIG already in it. You can see it in action for yourself if you stop by a dealer and have them show you some of what it does. Did you see Chrysler's online demo for MyGIG? www.chrysler.com/mygig
