Who is going to be doing these warranty repairs if Chrysler goes out of business? It is one thing for the government to back the warranty and other to get parts and service. Will you be directed to the nearest military base's motor pool?

What you really need to consider is how long you intend to keep the van because if Chrysler goes away your future trade will be worth nothing. The resale value on used Chrysler minis is already low. I had a 2003 Olds Silhouette and its value plunged when GM dropped the Olds line, not that it ever was high.

I keep my cars for 10 years or until they explode, whichever comes first. I've got a 12 year old corolla it will replace, if that tells you anything. With GM I would feel pretty good that if they do (which they prob. will) go bankrupt they will be restructured and arise out of bankruptcy. So the dealer network will likely continue. With chrysler though, it seems that obama has shifted more to letting them fail- and my concern is there would be no resurrection from bankruptcy- meaning no dealers (as you pointed out). So your right, the govt honoring the warranty may or may not be that good (also can't the govt just say- oh no more warranty sorry).

Im this ' ' close to buying one- they have some amazing deals, but I just feel nervous inside.

Warranty claims are down 30% so reports Chrysler. Down from what, 90%? I would be very careful buying anything produced at a factory full of disgruntled employees.

qwikdrip,

Wow, I'm impressed. What options did you get? I'm feeling like I didn't do so well on my deal. I bought an 09 Town and Country with the following:

28L Package
4.0 engine
Security group
Premium Group
Backseat TV
uconnect GPS

The MSRP was $38310. We got it for 30,700, and that's before any taxes or doc fees. Did you have to bargain much? Sounds like you got a steal to me. Congratulations.

I guess I should add that the $30,700 price did not include our 1999 Lexus RX 300 trade-in. They originally offered $4900 (115,000 miles). We had a firm offer from We Buy Cars for $6400. They kept bumping up their price and we kept saying no until they finally agreed to the competitor's offer. So, taking that into account, our OTD price was $27088. 0% financing for 36 months.

Over here in the chicagoland area i was talking to this dealer and they gave me a price of 24,878 before tax on a 2009 town and country 25th edition with nav and dvd. Msrp was 36,050. Im still gonna shop around though, but that looks like a real good price.

In Houston I was given a price quote of 26500 for a 35000 msrp T&C 25th with dvd/nav. I'd say that is a great price in chicagoland.

Kev,

I only got the 25M package, MSRP 34,180, I didn't get all the toys. I didn't really bargain too much, I was happy with 10,000 below MSRP. I guess I've could have done better, but I was satisfied. It seems you've done well. Congrats to you.

What/Where is We Buy Cars? I'm looking to get rid of my 2002 Ford Explorer XLT with 51,000 miles. When I went to Honda they offered me only $3000. So, I didn't even bother with Chrysler for a trade-in.

I'd appreciate any info, please email me at qwikdripmsn.com.

Thanks,

Tommy

Tommy,

I live in Maryland and I believe "we buy cars" is only around here. They have a website, www.webuycars.org. As an example, carmax offered us $5,000 for our Lexus. We buy cars offered $6400. So it pays to shop around.

Interesting how different areas price the same vehicles differently. We could only find one touring in our area that had the exact features we wanted. The only problem was the color. We wanted black or white and the local dealer had light blue. My wife went in to talk to them and they let her walk out the door at $31,325.
We had to have our car shipped 300 miles away from North Carolina. We're glad we waited because it's just what we wanted but I probably did over pay. What was the amount of your rebates? In Maryland it was 2,000 for March but now it's down to 1,500. The rebate in the northeast region is higher, or at least it was in March.

We're enjoying the car, I'm just kicking myself for not getting a better deal. It's certainly a great time to buy a new car.

Kevin
