I tried sending you both the information needed to generate a CDI # a few days ago, but I get an auto-reply back indicating that both of your CarSpace mailboxes are full.

Hmm...my Carspace inbox only has 1 or 2 things in it. If you tried to send it from somewhere other than using your Carspace account it would have been blocked. I believe the website has it set to only send and receive email from other Carspace members.

Anyway, I already gave away my one and only CDI number. The co-workers I've asked thus far all have plans for theirs. If I run across someone else who is willing to share their number I will let you know.

Thanks to everyone on this forum, I have learned a lot about purchasing a new car. After many hours of reading and searching I have found the van I was looking for. I have settled on a 2008 Limited in silver w/ DVD and Swivel n Go. It also has the tow package, bluetooth and the power folding rear seat. I didn't really need all of those options but this one was invoiced before September 1 2007 so it is eligible for the aged inventory rebate you mentioned. I also went ahead and purchased the lifetime maximum care $100 deductible Chrysler warranty and am having the dealer install the blind spot monitoring system which is a factory installed option on the 2009. Finally, I added mud flaps and the iPod integration cable.

2008 Chrysler Limited
List price: $40,385
Emp price $35,633
Cash Allowance -$3,000
Bonus Cash -$2000
Aged Inventory -$1000
Lifetime warranty $1855
Blind spot monitoring installed $705
Deluxe molded mud-flaps installed $75
iPod cable installed $55
CDI fee $200
Dealer documentation $94.95

Grand Total $32,617.95
financed at 3.9% for 60 months = $600.19

Based on what I have read here this seems like a good deal. What do you think? I thought I saw that the dealer can't charge for documentation. Also the dealer says they need the zip code of the person who gave me the CDI code. Is that normal procedure? I haven't seen anyone else (in this forum) request anything more than just the number.

It appears to be a good deal. if you have a CDI # you have a right to see the factory invoice for that vehicle if you want to verify the price. Look for the EP (Employee Price) code on the sheet. That is the same as the CDI price.

The warranty price you listed is exactly what the http://www.chryslerwarrantys.com website came out to be and they are a good deal.

Also, the dealer can add a doc fee. The FAQ section on the employee website says it can be a maximum of $75.

If the dealer requests the zip code of the employee who issued the CDI # it is a procedure that is sometimes used to verify the CDI. I've had buyers email me about it in the past.

Hi tedebar,

I just wanted to let you know that I picked up my Aspen and am thrilled with it! The employee discount price for an Aspen configured with the options I have as per the employee web site that was posted on this post should have been 30,860. The employee price for my particular vehicle with the same options was around only 29,600 as I found one that was manufactured before the last 2 base price increases. So it turned out to be a phenomenal deal so almost 11K off the sticker price. Thanks again for all your help and I really appreciate all your support!

I am looking at minivans right now, if anyone has a CDI number they won't be using, it will be the thing to tip the scale and I will gladly buy a Chrysler Signature Series. Thanks anyone for your help!

See below for a link to the dealer. Call them and tell them you received an e-mail with the specifics stated above. If they will honor it try to get your local dealer to match it.

What if the dealer has to go get the van from another dealer? by peavs

Well, after lurking around here for most of the year, I finally joined. I now have a few questions. These are to Tedebear and rmbalisa in particular (since they seem to be the resident CDI and Friends number experts), but anybody can chime in if they know the answer.

What are the rules for the dealer if they have to go get the van from another dealer? (Dealer swap of otherwise.) I live it the “sticks”. My closest dealer (number1) is 18.4 miles away; dealer 2 is 27.5 miles away. Neither of these is in a large city, (that is at least 60+ miles away.) I go to dealer 1; they don’t have what I want. They look for it in the system and find one close to what I want 187 miles away. They give me a price, I show them my supplier number, and he says that he won’t go get it because they will lose money and that the number is intended for buying “off the lot” or ordering new. I go to dealer 2, tell her what I want and she finds one that is only missing one option. It is 6 hours away. I haven’t told her about the number yet and I don’t know where or which dealer it is located at. Fortunately, dealer number 1 told me the city and VIN of that van and I have found it.

So, do I have to go to the dealer that physically has the van or does my local dealer HAVE to go get it for me when using these numbers?

Also, when using the DODGE site to search for a van, does anybody have a way to make it search in a larger area? (Some special link, rmbalisa?) It gets to be a pain trying to search for this van that’s 6 hours away when I don’t even know which direction to go.

Oh, Can I get a CDI number too? (Just kidding, I know you guy’s don’t have any more. But if you stumble across one... )
