Limited Invoice - How do U know it's real? Frustrated. by buzz_cii

Hi folks, newbie here.

Been doing a lot of looking at the TC Limited with options: Swivel w/Booster, Tow package, Dual DVD w/ Sirus TV, My Gig w/ Nav, Pwr Sunroof and Power 3rd row.

I get quotes rebated from what the sales person is calling "Dealer Invoice". how do i know it's the real invoice from factory or just a made-up invoice? It's like going into JC Penny and seeing 50% off sales. Marked up 3 times, they are still selling at a profit.

Also, it pisses me off when the sales person boasts a $2500 rebate. Heck, every Joe-Six-Pack that walks through the door gets the rebate, so it's not special to me. Might as well reduce the "invoice" price $2500 and start from there.

I've haggled for a week and am down from MSRP of $42,885 to $35,885. Can I go farther down? Also, with the 2009s around the corner, are the dealers getting some incentives to move the 2008s? Geez, i seen a dealer in Detroit with 247 TC's in stock. You think they would be blowing them out the door at cost+ a few bucks.

PS. Any friend coupons out there?

Thanks!

Invoice for this vehicle per Edmunds is around $39,000, take another 1% off for friends and family plus the 2500 incentive and you are looking at $36110. You are $225 below that. I would say its a good deal.

You wouldn't want a Friends discount. The price you're at is already below the Friends price and it would end up costing you more.

I came up with the same $42,885 MSRP when I configured a vehicle with the same options you mentioned. With a $2,500 rebate the total price with the Friends discount came to $36,067.

So it's not a good idea to have the undercoating done then huh? I only said yes to this since we are driving the van to the beach this weekend and would not want to have any saltwater under the car. My appointment is tomorrow to have the undercoating done. I guess I can call them up today and say I've changed my mind and instead of the undercoating, just give me the running rail or something.

I (as well as a lot of other people - do a Google search) think aftermarket undercoating is not necessary. In some cases it can even make things worse if it is not done right. If any drain holes get plugged by the undercoating you'll have water trapped inside.

I already described the extensive rustproofing process a Chrysler minivan goes through at the assembly plant. If you're concerned about saltwater at the beach just drive it through a car wash and pay the few dollars extra for the undercarriage blaster after you get back from your trip.

My son-in-law and daughter had their 06 undercoated by Ziebart through the dealer when it was new and have regreted it. Whenever it gets hot they have black undercoating seeping out of the bottoms of the doors, around the tail lights ect... The local dealer has been good about it and cleans the van everytime they take it in for service, but it's still a pain on top of being overpriced.

Thanks Joels and Tedebear. I will keep pushing the envelope and get the triangle of dealers to start bidding.

Has anyone successfully haggled down the cost of the extended b2b warranty?

With all these "power this" and "power that", dvd screens, knobs, etc... I feel like a longer bumper to bumper is needed.

Unfortunately, I was only able to have them reduce it by $100.. by that time, my wife and I just wanted to leave the dealership and drive the van off the lot.

I got an extended (lifetime) warranty for $1800 ($100 deductible) when I bought my T&C in March. I agree with you that an extended warranty is needed to complement the lifetime powertrain warranty. Im actually keeping a blog about my experience if you're interested: Chrysler Lifetime Warranty
