In my research I found this over at ask yahoo. It doesn't deal with your soft top leaking question but offers a little insight into other aspects of the 07's. Hope it helps somebody here.
I have had a 97 and 2001 wrangler and have just purchased the 2007 2door X I have had it only a week and have only minor complaints. I donít know what the jeep engineers were thinking when they removed the fold and tumble seats. You must be really athletic and skinny to enter the back seat. This renders the jeep strictly as a 2 passenger vehicle only. Also Jeep states there is more interior room but I disagree; there used to be space under the back seat to store small items such as jumper cables(in the 2007 the rear bench seat sits on the floor); also the area in front of the seats is smaller(I have taken my floor mats from my 2001 and put them in the 2007 and they donít fit because they are too large).
This is the stupidest modification they added to the 2007 wrangler and shows how out of touch the jeep engineers are with people that use the soft-top. The rear window in previous jeeps used to snap into metal brackets at the top of the jeep frame; now they use removable plastic brackets???????! So every time you want to remove or add the rear window the plastic brackets pop off adding several annoying minutes to the task. The refitted window never fits the same after the 1st removal. I just donít understand the function for that modification. Nothing could justify the plastic brackets in my opinion.
Overall I am not overly impressed with the new modifications from the 2001 to the 2007. Nothing wows you however I do not off road that often. I like the subtle standard options such as abs, Electronic Stability Program, and the layout of the instrument panel and center console.

Is an interrogation part of the whole scheme of things here or what? Why I posted is my business.............
Your first post here borders on rudeness and you're upset when you're challenged?
I suggest you grow a thicker skin as I'll challenge you anytime you want to question my integrity. I'll state quite categorically, nobody pays me to make posts here (though maybe someone will offer me something not to post. )
I don't know what future values will be for the new Wrangler and neither does anyone else. For the future doesn't relinquish details like that. I owned a Corvette for 5 years and yes, they depreciate too, no matter what one might have heard.
It's generally understood all readily available vehicles will depreciate in the short term. It shouldn't really be necessary to explain each time that Wrangler's depreciation record is excellent in comparison to other vehicles.
Finally, I don't think anyone here claimed to predict the future, and I don't remember anyone claiming to have heard that Corvettes don't depreciate (I'm not sure why you brought that up?). There was nothing in your first post (or your second) that indicated a desire for research or information on pricing...........they were purely confrontational!

......anyone have problems with the soft top leaking?
Yes, there have been isolated reports of leaks with both hard and soft tops on the '07 models, as there have been on previous models. However, at the moment, there is nothing to indicate a design issue, rather one of quality control or incorrect fitting.

Stick to prices, please.. not posts about tops leaking or posts about each other..

Maybe one of the hosts could move posts #314 and #317 to the 2007 Jeep Wrangler forum?

One of the hosts will just let the rest of you take up those discussions where appropriate..
Of course, posts directed at other members aren't appropriate at any time...
Thanks for your continued participation and support.. And, mac24? I want my cut of that money from Jeep..

I'm still waiting for their quote on the 2 door Sahara model. This is what I was quoted on a 4 door version (I've heard they're in more demand so maybe a 2 door is a better deal?) 07' Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 4WD. List, $29,925. Asking $27,499. Maybe this will help somebody.
#322 of 710 Wrangler Order Pending
Apr 10, 2007 (6:35 pm)
Hi all, I ordered an 07 Wrangler Sahara Unlimited with auto and the hardtop 2 weeks ago. After going to a few dealerships in my area I finally found one that would participate in the affiliate rewards program that is available to me from my company. In the end I am paying 26,594.00 minus tax ++ for the car. My questions are the following:
1) I have a control number that was given to me by the dealership. I was told that I could check on status with this number, however the dealership had no idea how I could verify this information. Any help here?
2) I was also told that it would take 8-12 weeks for delivery. Is this normal? What has been the typical wait time for delivery?
3) Is there a point in time when the factory stops producing the '07 model and begins production on the '08?
Sorry for the rambling...seems like this will be the longest 2-3 month wait of my life. Hope it doesn't turn out to be 5-6 months!
Thanks for your help in advance.

I think you'll be getting one of the very last '07s as the current lead time is 16-18 weeks and the first build of the '08s are supposed to be at the end of July/ beginning of August. The good news is that nothing is on hold or delay at the moment.
Try the contact link at Jeep.com to check on that control number.
#324 of 710 2006 Rubicon Pricing
Apr 12, 2007 (10:11 am)
Looking at a 2006 Rubicon at my local dealership. 3200 miles with both tops. They are asking $28,999 for it!!
It amazes me because the dealership has 3 2006 Rubicons total. Two of which the senior salesperson as he was referred to as said they were from the Jeep Jamboree. Now from a friend of mine that has a Jeep Jamboree Rubicon and knowing what he paid for it as an employee it KILLS me to think they are asking these prices.
Has anyone had any luck negotiating a price down from 28 to closer to what the dealership paid for it (I know they did not spend over 15 for it). Also the dealer was trying to say that technically they are still considered "new" cars. Is there a way to see what the dealership paid for them?
This dealership kills me because it is a "5 Star" dealership but is nothing short of rude and "high" pressure.
