I know the msrp was $25,400. I think the Emunds TMV what people are paying for the van was $20,000 the day before we bought the car. I hope this helps you. I think I got a good deal because no other dealer could beat it and the other dealer who came closest at $17,700 told me to go for it and he told me Quirk was giving me an incredible deal.

New 2008 Kia Sedona LX with options by bikash007

I purchased a new 2008 Kia Sedona LX with DVD, power doors, roof fails and carpeted floor mats for a OTD price of 20,000 in CT. The sales tax here is 6%. I called all the dealerships in CT. Most of them quoted me a price between 23,000 to 25,000. The 2008 LX models with 5K discount are running out. Only 2 dealerships had the Red exterior and Beige interior I was looking for. The dealerships did not show much eagerness to negotiate. What do you guys think? Is it a decent price? I have seen people getting better prices in the forum. Has anybody gotten a better price in CT recently?

How good is Kia Sedona? by bikash007

I got a good deal for 2008 LX Kia Sedona for 20K out the door with DVD, power doors etc. I like the price. A comparable Honday Odyssey was coming to around 32K. I am about to sign the contract tomorrow. But I am a little bit concerned about overall Kia quality. The other cars I drove in the past are Mercedes and Toyota. Both proved to be great cars. I need a van to accomodate the growing family and Kia Sedona fits right into my budget. But I have a nagging feeling that I might be compromising the safety of my family by buying a cheaper brand. What do you guys think? How would you compare the overall quality between a Honda Odyssey and Kia Sedona? Is it a huge difference? Is the difference merely in the brand name? Anybody in this group drove a Kia for several years?

Well if u have driven a Merc/Toyota before--then u will be definitely disappointed with Kia Sedona.Only attraction --low price.Other than that Sienna/Odyssey are much superior. And if u drove Toyota before--U will not like the Odyssey either.Odyssey has lots of road noise,,u can feel every bump on a rough road and taut steering wheel but more sporty ride than Sienna.
A sporty rough ride --go with Odyssey or else plush, smooth ride --go with Sienna
Sienna has a very quiet, plush comfy ride and more reliable than Odyssey.
But definitely---Both the Ody and Sienna are far superior to Sedona in ride, resale and reliability.
If u have 20k to spend-buy a used 08 Sienna with less than 20k miles and buy an extended Toyota warr. for 7yr/100k miles...There are screaming deals out there for 08 Sienna minivans...That would be my choice..

Wow, I couldn't disagree more.

The Sedona is well built. Toyota and Honda reliability aren't what they were 10 years ago. Other brands have caught up.

Are the Odyssey and Sienna slightly more refined and overall a better van than the Sedona? Probably. Will the Sedona disappoint you? Probably not.

The Sedona's safety equipment and safety scores are tops in the minivan class. No safety concerns with this van.

Don't get hung up too much on resale value. Start with the actual purchase price, not MSRP. Percentage-wise, the Sedona won't really be any worse than its competitors. You pay less up front and your van will be worth less down the road.

We are really enjoying our Kia we bought last year (I posted in this thread about it earlier, awesome deal for a loaded minivan).... So far so good. I know the resale value isn't as great as the more desired brands, and that keeps people from buying it...but you cannot beat the price! And as far as reliability and comfort I think its just fine, as well as safety and warranty. Kia has really been trying to compete in the minivan market and I think they've done a good job for themselves. The reviews are really good for what you pay for. I would definitely recommend the Kias....this is our second, we outgrew our first one as it had very little storage space....with four kids, we had to upgrade to the newer model and we plan to keep this one as long as possible!

My family have Honda Odyssey EXL with nav and just bought Kia Sedona LX. The driving feel and quality of Kia is surprisingly good and not much different than Honda, it is merely in the brand name. Kia is a bargain and I highly recommend it. We are very happy with Kia van.

I'm glad you guys are happy with your Sedona. The Ody is a nice van but Honda is far from being flawless. The terrible transmission problems that so many owners experience and being hung out to dry for thousands of dollars for a new tranny is a bit of a testimony to the real Honda and their dedication to quality. Not to mention the cost of standard maintenance is outrageous such as the replacement of the Honda's timing belt as compared to the Kia having a timing chain. By the time you factor in these cost plus the tremendous amount of money you pay over the cost of a new Kia the depreciation difference is not even an argument.

I bought a new '08 Kia Sedona EX w/ power pkg & cross bars for $18,700 in Rochester. (No leather, No DVD). This is a "demo" vehicle that won't be released to me for a couple weeks due to some program it's in (but no one will be driving it...I put my deposit down), and it's still considered 'new' with about 1000 miles on it. I'm fine with the mileage -- it's been broken in a bit, right? It's got the great warrantee as they all do. It test-drove just fine, so I look forward to picking it up soon.

I got quotes from 3 or 4 dealers via email. Then went to visit whoever could give me the lowest quote. I got a couple quotes for new '08 Sedona EX's of $19,500, but the Rochester dealer could make the deal sweeter at 18.7k (even though I have to wait to pick it up a couple weeks due to a demo program it's in.) And the Kia dealer in Rochester was very friendly to work with -- not pushy like the Waterloo Kia dealer. I'll never go back to the Waterloo Iowa Kia dealer.

I'm pleased with the price for our Kia. Sounds about like what others in this forum would be getting. I would love to hear from other recent purchasers, but only if they paid more than me because I don't want to know if I paid too much.

The Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey's are just too expensive for us. If money were no issue, I probably would get a Toyota Sienna. But NEVER a Chrysler/Dodge. We have had a horrible experience with our '98 Plymouth Grand Voyager (same as Chrysler/Dodge). When shopping for a minivan recently, I considered Chrysler because of the good deals going on, but then I got stomach aches due to my disgust of their vehicles. We've put so much money into nearly every aspect of our Grand Voyager, I'll never buy another from them. I'd do business with Kia over Chrysler any day.
