Yes, it is the MFG Subaru Added Security warranty that extends for 6/60. It is not a 3rd party warranty.

Are these types of warranty's generally worth it?

We have one. The nice part is you get roadside assistance the entire time, so we are covered for 7/100.

See if you can get a longer term. Your 5/60 is really only adding the B2B portion for 2 years. The powertrain is already covered.

The price seems fair, quotes often run $1400 or higher nowadays.

Make sure that's what you need first...are you only driving 10,000 miles a year? It's a good plan if you want a little more peace of mind. If the car's a turbo the price would be okay, if not I'd look at one for a 25% discount off the suggested price.

$2,500 manufacturer incentives on 2005's. I got 23% off MSRP for my 05 OB XT last week. you should look for a similar discount. 2007 models will be out in May so dealer's are motivated.

Offer the dealer invoice less rebate less holdback, then let them counter.

07 Models in May???? by ray_palm_st

We are close to buying a 06 Outback but maxheadroom’s #815 comment that the 07 Models are out in May really makes me pause. I have a 96 Legacy with 240K+ so another 3 months is not a major issue. We feel there are not a lot of color choices and have compromised on one . Not totally overwhelmed with it since it is the same as our other car, a 02 Impreza. Is a May a good pick for the new models? Any info on what may be new? Same car with just a different mix of options and colors? What has Subaru done in the past on incentives at model launch? I expect I could always find a 06 in May at a dealer but don’t know if I will be paying more or less.

Early on the dealers will still have a good supply of '06's to choose from and the deals are usually better.

Should be minor updates. Two expected '07 changes are offering XM satellite radio and an auxiliary input for iPods & other music players. If you have an iPod (or other), the input allows a direct connection to the stereo, rather than using an FM transmitter which reduces the sound quality.

raybear - speaking of '07 models, do you think the '07 Forester will be out in May as well? I'm helping some friends car shop, and the aux input would be important to them.
