I think I was too soft a buyer. 12/24 bought a 2006 xt automatic (not 'limited' version). "Sale" price of $29512 (including few add ons) before taxes, fees, or rebate ($2750). This is $1000 over what Edmunds says is dealer invoice. Edmunds says TMV is about $300 over invoice. Dealer said that they only get 3% of sale price in addition to any over invoice. So here they got $1000 + ~$900 from Subaru. This was one of few of discontinued version of last years stock. Added up to about $29500 out the door before added maintenence and warantee.

Based on my pricing (message 1144) and Mike's message(1147), it looks like I may have been up to $500 dollars over rock-bottom pricing and your dealer may be trying to place you about $1000 over that same rock-bottom price (see Mike's hpperlink to one source's on-line estimate. Work them harder and they'll come down some more. If not, try another dealer...

No, it was for a regular 2.5i wagon, model 7DD. My post was in reply to #1137 from tommypc71 who asked about a regular 2.5i. Invoice for Limited, model 7DE, is about $2,500 higher. If you get the same discount off invoice, the price including $750 rebate should be about $24,600 plus TTL for cars with CA emission or $24,400 plus TTL with Fed emission. See http://www.cars101.com/subaru/outback/outback2007.html#prices for invoice prices for different models. When you post price quotes from dealerships please be sure to post quotes before TTL for apple-to-apple comparison because TTL vary quite a bit from state to state.

Aloha:

Today I received some bids from dealers where they were essentially offering their bottom line sale price on a 2007 Subaru Outback 2.5i Wagon (Model/Code 2.5i4EAT-S/7DD) with the 4 Speed automatic transmission with sportshift (This is not the basic model. It is one up from the basic and one below the limited).

Basically, I am seeking feedback to determine if the deals are good.

I am in Massachusetts.

Deal 1): One dealer offerred to sell the vehicle at Net price of $23030.00 plus sales tax, title, plates and dealers fee (354.00) resulting in a total sale price of $24618.50.This deal included free tires for the life of the vehicle and is at a dealership that is 20 miles out of my way.

Deal 2) The second dealer offered to sell the same vehicle at $21920.00 plus sales tax, title, plates, documentation fees etc. with resulting total sale price of $23,354.50. This dealership is 2 miles from my house.

So here are the questions:

Anyone have experience with this model and have any issues with it?

Are these deals good?

Whish deal is better?

Thanks.

John

I just picked up my new 2.5I limited. I don’t expect any issues. My last car was a 96 Legacy Wagon with 247,000 miles and the one before was a Legacy with 235,000. I also am from Massachusetts and talked to a dealer that had a “free tires for life deal”. I got a much better price at Atlantic Subaru in Bourne. Near you? I did a fair amount of checking and they were the lowest price in New England. Their service department is super!

Can you tell us what you paid for the LTD before TT&L and did that price include the $750 cash back?
Thanks

Has anyone been able to get a dealer to give the $750.00 rebate AND get the Subaru financing? I was told today that I can't get the Subaru financing of 3.9 AND get the $750.00 rebate.

Also, what has been the bottom line price of an Outback 2.5i with automatic trans with sportshift (before tax, title and dealers fees) that you have been able to secure?

Thanks.

Hi. We've found a 2.5i Limited Wagon with a year-end sale quote of $24,311. Seems like a good deal to us. Has anyone found anything significantly better?

Thanks!
Maria

Thats about as rock bottom as you can get. That quote has to be without tax. I would take it in a heart beat.

Well, here is the final deal:

Price of 2.5i Wagon with 4 Speed Auto transmission with sportshift and autodimming rearview mirror with compass (why I needed to have it I do not know:

$22,812.00 (total before tax, title and Lic.). There was no $750.00 rebate as I financed the car at 3.9%. The car was purchased at Patrick Subaru in Shrewsbury, MA.

The salesman did an excellent job and was reasonable to deal with throughout the process. Hopefully, the service department will be as professional.

So, how did I do?
