`07 OB Purchase by dudleyf

Just bought a fresh-off-the-truck `07 Outback LL Bean Edition, loaded with nav, auto-dimming rearview mirror, plus all-weather floor mats (in addition to the Bean mats) and plastic cargo liner for $31,050 (before tax and title).

How does this deal sound?

Haven't picked it up yet (this Thursday) but am looking forward to it and am glad I convinced the wife to go with a Subie (she wanted a RX). I've wanted one for years, as I live in NE Ohio and their prowess in our winters here is well regarded.

Will be lurking more frequently in the future now that I will be a first-time Subaru owner!

how about a MDX by newcarbuyer8

I had considered buying either a MDX or OUTBACK for two months. Yesterday just picked a 2006 MDX touring with DVD for $33519, around $9000 below MSRP. You may get 2006 MDX touring Aropund $32500. New 2007 MDX is coming, thus you may expect good deal on 2006 MDX this month.

Seems a bit big to compare to an Outback.

Plus, I think the new ones are a big improvement, much nicer interior design. $40k, though.

Waiting on 07 LLBean outback by gasr

So we purchased a new '07 ll bean outback (paid 31200 with nav, XM, remote start, floor mats and dog gate). we're really happy with the price we paid.

Problem is we put down 2k on October 1st. Dealer said that his allocation was done for the month and that we would have to wait until early next month. (we're ok with that) Now its the middle of October, and the dealer is not able to get me a VIN number yet. Does anyone know if this is common or not. He said that he had never heard of a VON number (Vehicle order number).

Yesterday one of the other dealers that we had spoken to about the car had called and I mentioned we were waiting on the car, and he said we could be waiting until Dec / Jan since alocations were done every 3 months and said that we should be able to get a VON number from the dealer. We're located north of Boston, MA.

I have no problem waiting until early November, December is totally unacceptable. Has anyone heard of this. Is the dealer I spoke to yesterday taking me for a ride...
thanks

folks, want to hear your opinion about these two quotes, much appreciated!

an OTD quote for silver 2007 2.5i wagon $24000, with following:

AUTO-DIMMING MIRROR/COMPASS
ARMREST EXTENSION (OFF BLACK)
SPLASH GUARD SET GRANITE GRAY OPAL

I live in NJ, where the tax is 7%.

The same dealer quoted me a blue 2006 wagon for $24100, with the following.
ARMREST EXTENSION (TAUPE)
AUTO-DIMMING MIRROR/COMPASS
SECURITY SYSTEM UPGRADE (PERIMETER ALARM) BEIGE
CARGO NET, REAR SIDE COMPARTMENT,SET OF 2

If it is OTD with A/T and 7% tax, then it is a good price.

It is definitely not worth going for 2006 just for wheel lock set + cargo net + security alarm. You can buy these accessories on your own and install it on the 2007 for around $200 (all the three together). Moreover why buy a 2006 and take depreciation hit when you can get 2007 for $100 more ($24000+$200). For 2007, they have added aux input for the audio system which is huge plus if you own a personal MP3 player.

Good Luck!

Did the dealer tell you he was going order one or he has one already coming in next month? If he has put in a new order for your car, then it will take atleast 6-8 weeks to get it (unless he can find another dealer getting the exact same car so that he can trade the shipment).

I think you're comparing two different models. Since the splash guards are listed as an option on the '07, it's most likely a 2.5i "Basic" Outback, with a cost nearly $1500 lower than the "standard" 2.5i with it's extra features, including:

TPMS Tire Pressure Monitoring
17" alloy wheels
Limited Slip rear axle
Cargo area power outlet
Power driver's seat, 8 way
Roof rails with cross bars
Rear cargo cover, with a gate attachment
All Weather Package: Heated front seats, Power heated mirrors, and front wiper de-icer.
and...Splash Guards
