Sounds like a good price on the Outback, Mike. Isn't it nice to spend your money at dealerships that know how customers want to do business? 90 minutes is great. Our experiences have been similar.

The insurance rates are great on the most current Subies because the safety ratings are soooo high!

Thanks all. The outback is awesome it is some much nicer then the 02 . The interior is nice and the ride is firmer and quietier . Much better fit and finish too ,really did a look over and the interior panels are all tight with no overlap.
Exterior gaps and panels nice tight fit too .
THE BEST PART IS NO ENGINE KNOCK (PISTON SLAP) WHEN START UP .
I bought the car from Martin Subaru in Turnersville NJ

My wife and I just bought our first Subaru. After seeing everybody's posts about prices I thought I would share mine. I thought I got a great deal:

Sticker was $25,964 (included Auto Dim Mirror/Compass/Homelink, Security System upgrade, and armrest extension). But they went down to $19,995 after the $2000 rebate. OTD was $21,583 plus a free window tint.

Overall we were extremely pleased at both the car and the dealership (North Park in San Antonio). No one tried to pressure us at all.

Is that an SE model with the twin moonroofs? If so for under $20k that's unbelievable...

Unfortunately, no. I wish it had the twin moonroofs though!

Sorry, I'm thinking Legacy wagon 2.5i SE, not Outback.

It's still surprising to get an Outback under $20k.

Price is pretty good but typical during a sale. I paid $28K for a fully loaded XT with everything, (twin roof, premiumn sound, leather, auto AC, Turbo, etc) List was $32K. No rebate, or cheap finacing tricks for me.. only price matters.

I bought my first Subaru at the end of July from West Herr in New York. We live in Canada so the purchase process was done over the phone and via e-mail. At the end of the negotiations we paid $27,030 and the dealer included an auto-dimming mirror, floor mats and four cargo nets. This price includes PDI and freight, but does not include any taxes.

I think the deal is in-line with what I've seen on this forum. We're very happy with the car and I would absolutely buy in the U.S. again given lower sticker prices and a strong Canadian dollar. Thanks to NAFTA, the Indiana built Subie is excluded from excise taxes so we just had to pay our Federal and Provincial levies - in total about 14% based on the purchase price. In total we saved about 25% as compared with the same vehicle in Canada!

If you would like to know more about the negotiation, export or warranty issues, just let me know.
