Also got the 2.9% financing and wish I could have afforded to do the 2-year financing at 0%, but all in all a great deal. Subaru has great incentives on a great car right now and Fitzmall. Highly recommended. Also thanks to the forum, which I used for weeks to track prices and do research. A great resource for consumers. Also, salesman told me he does not work on commission. True? But there does seem to be a commission-like system based on customer satisfaction, apparently.

I am in the market for a used outback and really like the 2005/2006 version of it. I've been offered some great deals on a new 2006, but the payment is a bit more than I want. I've seen quite a few used 2005/2006 outbacks listed on autotrader and cars.com in the Minneapolis area thar are below Bluebook...alot below it in some cases. After doing a carfax on them, they appear to be former rental cars. Should I steer clear of these vehicles or are they worth looking into. I intend to have the car inspected before I purchase but I am concerned that these cars have been used, abused and poorly maintained. Thanks! Carolyn

I've been shopping around for a 2.5i LTD wagon and the prices I've been getting have been around $26.5k OTD (in NC, with 3% sales tax) after the $2,000 cash back. Given that it's the end of the month and model year, I was thinking I could do a little better than that. Are these reasonable prices? What should I push for?

| Hi I was looking around for the 2.51 limited base wagon with automatic. Price ranged from 24,000 to 24,500 with a few options before tax title and doc fee. After 2000 rebate you can usually knock another 800-1200 dollar off the invoice price. So maybe you can do a little better.best of luck | |

When you start talking price-of-the-car, I back out the TTL and come up with $25675 as the figure you're posting. If that's an auto with no options, you're really only about $500 over invoice AFTER the doc fee, which around here ain't bad. If there are options, that might really be a killer deal. If it's a manual with no options, it's more than $1300 over, which isn't good at all. If you're in the northeast part of the state, it might be worth a trip to Fitzmall in the DC area... I think they're about $700 below invoice! **Yes, I'm properly accounting for the rebate here. Base invoice on the manual is $26315, on the auto is $27227. And I'm assuming that's a post-rebate price that was quoted in the original post. |

I was just quoted $24,764 with the following options auto-dimming rear view mirrow with compass and Homelink, armrest extension, and a security system schock sensor. So basically it is $5000 off of MSRP.......do you think I can do better? They are doing "the end of the month" thing and trying to get me to complete the sale today.......I'm not quite ready to take the plunge. Thanks, Melinda

I am looking at buying a 2.5i with the current financing deals of 3.9% for 48 months. The salesman said we wouldn't get the $2000 factory rebate if we took the financing, is that true? He quoted $24,422 for the car in Southern New York. Does this sound like a good price. No extras that I saw. I appreciate the helpful advice. I need to know before Wednesday morning when the financing deal ends. Thanks.
