Edmunds' TMV for a Forester Bean with those 4 options is right at $26k so I'd say you're getting a very good price.

Hi,
I live in the W. Mass. area and am interested in the above vehicle. Was wondering what I could expect to pay for this. I want an automatic transmission

I have not seen this mentioned, but according to cars.com, there is a $1200. rebate and a $1200. dealer incentive on 2005 Forester X. The numbers are $850./$850. for XS w/moonroof and $1000./$1000. for XT. Hope that this helps everyone.

Hello again,

Sorry to disappear for so long. I was out of town. Thank you for your response. I am feeling the pressure to make a decision because the 2.9% financing deal will no longer be available after Oct. 31st (I'm in East Lansing, MI). The selling price without the items I listed, I believe, was in the neighborhood of $21,500. But I am not exact. This was for the Forester X 2005. I am also still wondering if it's worth the extra money to go for the XS. I know this is really subjective and personal preference, but I guess I'm just curious to hear people's thoughts on the perks that the XS offers.

Thanks,
Tanager

If you hang on to your vehicles for a long time, the cost per year is fairly low. If you think you'll enjoy those things, go for it. You'll even get a bit of it back at resale.

Thanks, I think you are right. I didn't even consider the investment benefits as far as resale goes. If I buy this car, I hope to keep it for a while. I am realizing through this car-buying search that I truly am afraid of committment, even at the automobile level. I've got issues. Thanks for the advice!

I wouldn't worry too much about the 2.9% going away at the end of the month. Subaru has been offering low interest financing deals for at least the past year. Sure they're set to expire every month or so (that way the sales guy can push you to buy NOW!) but they always get renewed.

P.S. "afraid of committment" Hmm... where's Ross when you need him?
