Well, the internet quote that I got included all fees - license, tax, prep, doc, etc. While the price was good, the buying experience at Honda was terrible. Sales guy tried to charge us more for the car, tried to drop the trade in price by $1000 once verbally then when we agreed, we found the lesser amount on the papers they wanted us to sign. *sigh* So I am much happier with my 30 minute no-fuss Subaru purchase that I paid about $100 over invoice then I am with the Honda at $200 below. Honda really made me work for it and as with any other Honda dealership I have ever visited... I will never go back to that one again. Customer service is abysmal!

I've heard that a lot about Honda dealerships. I know they all have bad apples, but I haven't from too many people that had good experiences over at the big H. Toyota dealerships tend to be meat markets too.

I have had good experience with Subie dealers though, we basically had our choice of 3 dealers that we could have bought the Forester from, all of them under invoice and quick with their quotes on the first email. Just chose the closest one.

I've had trouble getting quotes from Chrysler/Dodge dealers, GM guys are a mixed bag. The Maxx I just bought was great, and in the quote the dealer wrote quite clearly "no doc fee." He even faxed me the actual shipping invoice to prove he was giving me the entire holdback.

I agree that sometimes its worth it to pay a tad more than to give you business to a sleazy dealer who you never really trust.

Most Toyota dealers around here are like that, but Fitz does have an outlet with the same type of treatment.

Not so Honda. Koons says it is, but their web site is NEVER updated with pricing, they always say "Call".

Hey Folks,
Excellent leftover Forester bargains in New Hampshire - at some dealers. I'm getting a 2004 Forester XT, silver, premium package (auto, sun roof, leather)

MSRP: $28,240
Invoice: $26,073
Factory incentive: $1250
Additional discount
(from their holdback): $530

Final price: $24,293
plus paperwork fee
no sales tax in NH

Can't wait to pick it up!!

OH I'm sooooo jealous! If only I had waited and gotten THAT terrific a price! I got my Silver Automatic Forester XT for 24,600 (inc dest) but it didn't include the sun roof or leather. And NH is too far for me to drive to swap them while you're sleeping! -elissa

Elissa -
Better be *real quiet* when you sneak up and try to swap cars. My daughter and the dog already have big plans to fold down the seat backs and camp out in it every night!

Not to add to the pain, but I could have had the XT with no leather or sun roof for $22,100. I still don't know how they can be selling it that cheap unless it was a 5-speed and not an auto.

Good deal, thats about 1k lower than my price! I am still happy with my deal-I had 400 in options and 1.9% financing. Yep, you can get a FXT with premium from fitzmall for 23,500 (all incentives included+$99 doc fee). If you come with your financing - thats pretty good.

$1250 incentive? Wow, that's sweet. I'm tempted...too bad I'm not in the market right now, that price is crazy low.
