That sounds a good idea.

Another forum I found useful lately is http://www.subaruforester.org.

Regarding to price, yes the $500 for X with Premium Package is available in east coast as well. Competative pricing is one and negotiation experience is another, if one or two particular dealerships are willing to do the business with you with lower price offers. Since Fitzmall price is public, a lot of dealers around the regions would like to beat their published price with apple to apple. Also be aware of dealership processing fees, etc. Fitzmall's one is optional, according to their website.

I heard from several friends that Wilkins in Glen Burnie provided good sales and competitive offers as well. They may not be internet active (providing quotes via email, etc), but you may call them in. They also welcome referrals.

I just paid $19,900 for the base model forester. +$250 rmv, tank of gas and admin fees. This includes the $1500 rebate and and another $1400 discount. I also got $500 in gift cards to a local storting goods store. I didn't buy any extra packages or warranties or anything. This was from a massachusetts dealership. I think I got a fair deal ? What is your opinion ?

I think you received a good deal.

However it still p____'s me off to see people charged for gas, when spending that kind of money.

Looking for my 1st Subaru. Need help deciding between '06 or '07 Forester. Any advice, words of wisdom, etc. GREATLY appreciated.

'06 2.5X auto +AW mats, cargo tray, bumper cover, splash guard, and auto dim mirror/compass. Price quoted b/f any haggling $19195. Also looking at '07 2.5X for $19674 (no "whistles or bells"), b/f haggling. Both quotes after rebate. The '07 location is about an hour closer, not sure what price makes the '06 worth the drive?

Where are you located? $19674 for 2007 2.5X is slightly high. Dealers on east cost are selling the exact same vehicle for $18995. All the accessories that you have listed on 2006 2.5X will cost about $350. So, you are approximately getting $800(4%) discount on 2006MY. IMO it is definitely not worth going for 2006 to save $800. I would haggle down price on 2007 and buy all the accessories online and install it myself.

I live in Missouri. Those the initial quotes. I was wondering how much lower they might be willing to go. I've never negotiated for a new car (and it's a Subaru). I really don't care about the add-ons, they are of little value to me personally. It will come down to the price. But is the 2007 worth $800 more or $1000 or $1500? I don't know.

Thanks for you imput.
