Sorry pushed wrong button. Just noticed on rebate site that Subaru is offering $1500 cash back on Forester X. Anybody know if there are any catches to this(like graduating from college in 1972)It seems like a terrific deal.
Have a 2001 and this is tempting.

03 Forester with 64,000...recently when i accelerate there is a loud tinny sounding rattle...can really hear it when the window is down..feel that it could be in the region under the front seat area..(but maybe not)...hoping it is not the exhaust..just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions of things that i could check before i take it in..

It sounds like a loose heat shield somewhere along the exhaust system. This happened a few times on my 2001 Forester...I presume your '03 has a similar arrangement. It's a relatively quick, easy and low-cost fix.

I hope this helps.

That sounds a good idea.

Another forum I found useful lately is http://www.subaruforester.org.

Regarding to price, yes the $500 for X with Premium Package is available in east coast as well. Competative pricing is one and negotiation experience is another, if one or two particular dealerships are willing to do the business with you with lower price offers. Since Fitzmall price is public, a lot of dealers around the regions would like to beat their published price with apple to apple. Also be aware of dealership processing fees, etc. Fitzmall's one is optional, according to their website.

I heard from several friends that Wilkins in Glen Burnie provided good sales and competitive offers as well. They may not be internet active (providing quotes via email, etc), but you may call them in. They also welcome referrals.

I just paid $19,900 for the base model forester. +$250 rmv, tank of gas and admin fees. This includes the $1500 rebate and and another $1400 discount. I also got $500 in gift cards to a local storting goods store. I didn't buy any extra packages or warranties or anything. This was from a massachusetts dealership. I think I got a fair deal ? What is your opinion ?

I think you received a good deal.

However it still p____'s me off to see people charged for gas, when spending that kind of money.
