I've always heard silver is the most popular (and that's certainly what I see the most of). I agree on the subwoofer/tweeters... certainly not a high-end system, but it really helps add more punch and fullness to the sound. Money well-spent if you like music.

Edmunds seems to be having some hiccups at the moment, so I apologize if this ends up as a double-post.

We got pre-approved at a good rate through a very large local credit union, but Chase was able to beat it. I think they're pretty competitive. A lot hinges on the dealer's finance manager, too. If they see you've got a great rate in-hand, they may be more willing to match or beat it to get a little extra commission. Win-win for you and the dealership.

Out here the most popular is the Gold Pearl....when I was looking, it was the hardest color to find, and many dealerships told me it had the most interest......

I just got my "gauranteed trade in" amount from Subaru yesterday. I love my 04 and had no thought to trading but then I did my research and just for the heck of it went on over to Subaru and asked if they had a manual 07 in an X or X Premium...

Based upon the 13050 amount, I have about 3200 in equity on my 04. After all was said and done, I came out to 24,174 on a premium including taxes title etc and financing 20Kish. I have put 43,300 on my 04 in 20 months and tow and am looking at 145K miles in about 6 years. 45K miles is the mileage limit on this deal so I have gotten the goodies on my 04 from that standpoint. I also got a great deal on the 04 as it was purchased in Feb 05...

Oh and the midwest something or other is adding 500 bucks Subaru Cash to the rebate until Oct. 31. That last was faxed to them yesterday and he showed it to me. Oh and you get 300 Subaru Bucks if you do this deal...

If I put a little more than a thousand down, I almost i.e. come out even (less the thousand)on a plain X including a payment of seven bucks more than present. And a Premium would i.e. be a couuple thousand more and fifty bucks more than present on payment. This seems almost too good to be true and I am considering. Input? Obeservations?

X models are a great deal. I just wish they'd put the $2000 cash on the Premium models.

I have $700 Subaru Bucks, plus they had a $500 loyalty rebate around here a while back. The payments would have been very reasonable for me. I'm just considering a bigger vehicle with more space.

I am in a similar situation. SOA has offered 9750(NADA+$50) on my 2002 Forester-L with 75000 miles. My car has 88000miles, I am assuming I will be offered around $9000(NADA+50). IMO 47.5% resale value on a 5 year old car with 88000 is very good. The downside my car has been trouble free thus far and I have no other reason to convince my wife other than this GTP offer.

It's very good. My rule of thumb is 10% immediately, plus another 10% each year after that.

So a 5 year old car would hold about 40% of its value. And that's before you even factor in your high mileage.

Leasing - HELP with TAXES - going to dealer tomorrow morning by cdnj1

Someone *please* help me understand taxes on a lease. Note: I'm in NJ.

I'm leasing and the Subaru dealer is telling me that Bank Fee ($595) and Doc Fee ($110) are both taxable and that tax is computed (whether I pay upfront or not) based on lease payment times term, so $XXX times 36.

I thought if I paid upfront, which is an option in NJ, I would not be taxed on the finance fee part of the lease payment, rather only the depreciation cost of the vehicle (Cost-Residual).

If I can pay tax upfront and save a few bucks by not having to pay tax on the finance fee, I'll do it, otherwise I'll blend into the monthly payment (the monthly difference is $30/mo).

Thanks!

Can anyone clear this up for me. AND are bank fee and doc fee really taxable?

Lastly, can anyone confirm these SoA Residual and Money Factor Numbers:

36 month; 12k/yr

Residual: 56%
MF: .00280

Thanks.
