Unless you really want that aux input for an iPod, or satellite radio, you can do a lot better on an '06 right now.

Do Subaru Dealers Negotiate? Reasonable price? by tc2006

I'm wondering how much Subaru Dealers are willing to negotiate.

I'm in the Midwest and am being quoted $22736 + TTL for a 2007 Forester X with premium package. This is factoring in the $500 incentive currently available.

Is this reasonable? Edmunds comes up with the following numbers:

MSRP $2424,320
Invoice 22,896
What others are paying $22,911

Is red a popular color?

Not familiar with prices in the midwest, but you're beating Edmunds' targets. Go for it.

That is a damn good price.

Red, Gold and Black are the most popular, I was told.....

If you are into sound, buy the sub-woofer and tweeter package, which really helps!

Is this a decent deal - please help need a car! by cdnj1

Hi, I'm looking at '07 Forester with Prem Pkg at the following:

MSRP: 25861
Cost: 23866
MF: .00280
RV: 54% (14482)
miles: 12k/yr
term: 36 months
location: nj

with fees and first month at inception (1296 total), this comes to 399/mo.

Is this a decent deal? i have excellent credit, but deler said that cited MF was all he could do. id love to get this to 350/mo pre-tax (currently at 371 pre-tax).

another question - ive been quoted 1011 in sales tax - i cannot for the life of me figure out where this number came from...how is sales tax on a lease computed in nj, and where did this number come from?

thx.

You do know that there are many leasing companies out there, and you don't have to lease only from a Subaru dealer, right? Check with your bank, etc.

Ask about a slightly longer lease, say 39 months, and see what the figures are. That monthly payment is often quoted in the Nissan Murano threads for a 39 month lease, so I think you can do better.....

I believe the dealer mentioned chase holds their leases, but im not sure that chase would work with me directly.

i think i can probably do better too.

any thoughts on some other leasing companies i might try; im unfamiliar with that process...

thx.

I've always heard silver is the most popular (and that's certainly what I see the most of). I agree on the subwoofer/tweeters... certainly not a high-end system, but it really helps add more punch and fullness to the sound. Money well-spent if you like music.

Edmunds seems to be having some hiccups at the moment, so I apologize if this ends up as a double-post.

We got pre-approved at a good rate through a very large local credit union, but Chase was able to beat it. I think they're pretty competitive. A lot hinges on the dealer's finance manager, too. If they see you've got a great rate in-hand, they may be more willing to match or beat it to get a little extra commission. Win-win for you and the dealership.
